You're Never Over

Postby Innovation » Nov 4th, '10, 11:23

Another one of my favourites from Recovery. I've decided to post this one as a lot of people dislike it; especially due to the chorus. I'm just wondering why people fault this track bar the chorus which isn't too bad at all.

As with GTC, this is one of my favourite songs off Recovery, and one of my favourite Eminem songs of all time. He literally spills his heart out on this one, and it is one of the most honest songs I've heard.

My favourite verse on this song is the second. The delivery is fantastic and he flows very well.

Homie I know I’m never gonna be the same without you
I would've never came in this game, I’m going insane without you
Matter of fact it was just the other night, had another dream about you
You told me to get up, I got up and spread my wings and I flew
You gave me a reason to fight, I was on my way to see you
You told me "No, Doodie you’re not!" Laying on that table, I knew
I was gonna make it, soon as you said "Think of Hailie", I knew
There wasn’t no way that I was gonna ever leave them babies, and Proof
Not many are lucky enough to have a guardian angel like you
Lord I’m so thankful, please don’t think I don’t feel grateful, I do

Amazing song. I've liked it ever since I heard it. I appreciated for what it supposed to be, and not for what it isn't.

I think there has been similar topics on this. I agree though, that song is great because of it's 2nd verse. 1st verse isn't even close to his best work though.

Make me tear up everytime. I was so happy he finally made a song about Proof. Brillant second verse.

exactly!!! he coulnd't have done it on relapse though, would'nt have fit the concept

Didn't Em say on the Relapse booklet or something that he tried making a Proof tribute song but he didn't think any were good enough?

But anyway this is an amazing song and I love how the beat speeds up during the first verse :flutter:

I don't mind the chorus at all. Yeah ofcourse it sounds corny but I think that's how he kinda wanted it to be. He made it for Proof, not us. And yeah the 2nd verse is fucking dope, he really spills his heart. It sounds like he's about to tear up.

Not exactly. He was going to dedicate a song from Relapse to him, but didn't think any song was good enough so he dedicated the entire album.

So why in the world do I feel so alone
Nobody but me, I'm on my own
Is there anyone out there
Who feels the way I feel
That there is then let me in and let me know I'm not the only one.

its a great song, lots of people dont like the hook but to me its great, as someone said "he made it for proof, not us" its a great song, the delivery on the second verse is great, straight from the heart :worship:

Just listened again... No idea what he was thinking when he made that hook. Truly laughable.

Him spilling his heart out on a chorus is laughable? The chorus wasn't meant to be sung well. He's not a singer but he can sing much better than that. Listen to other songs off Recovery. This was just a tribute which he felt done Proof justice.

I don't care if it was the intention or not. I want to hear good music and that hook is just pain in my ears.
