The Best Thing About SSLP

Postby Innovation » Jul 26th, '11, 15:31

(in my opinion) is how effortless his rhyming sounds.

As MikeNUFC has posted several times, he sounds like he was rhyming on accident at times. This is partially due to his flow and how superb it was on every single track off the album. His writing on each and every song is amazing on this album. Even though I don't think he was at his best writing wise on SSLP, it's fucking impressive. :y:

Will the ease of rhyming displayed on this album ever be matched or surpassed (if that's possible)?

He said these line apparently without the intention to alter his flow nor fast nor slow and didn't even have to show they rhymed .. didn't even stop neither put some effects on the rhyme .. he just talked and yet it turned out to a sick flawless rhyming & flow. :worship:

Just. Crazy.

For me it's like this, on SSLP/MMLP he sounds like he just can't help but rhyme when he talks, whereas The Eminem Show gave us the "He's doing this on purpose" feeling. :y:

Although it's insane, I wouldn't say it's the best part about it.

I think his subtle touches of social commentary/satire/emotion, veiled by his humour, are the best part of the album.

But yeah, Brain Damage is the best example of this. Effortless rhyming and storytelling.

Eminem : "The Slim Shady LP was terrible. Its like I was trying to play catch-up with the beat all the time."

--> what Eminem's said about The SSLP (statement may have been paraphrased). I don't think that he was doing that though. Eminem also dislikes his voice on the album, as he said in his book The Way I Am.

Yeah, I remember that interview. He knocks MMLP and SSLP.
Here:

VIBE: So tell me something about this new album.
Eminem: I learned how to ride a beat better, like, that's what I wanted to focus on doing. On the last album, I hadn't completely mastered it yet, to sink into the beat? That's what I don't like about that second album-I'd listen, and I'd be like, Why am I so far behind that beat? [voice rising] The first album was TERRIBLE - like, I was playing catch-up with the beat constantly.

^He deserves a slap for saying that. His flow on those two albums is so effortless and unique it's crazy. It's like he's speaking but flowing at the same time and no one has done that so well. I think that when you concentrate on riding the beat (in the way Em perceives it) you come off as you're talking to somebody else rather than the listener (or not as much) which makes it a worse option. Plus he was able to switch the intonation in more and better ways, and all those back up vocals made things more interesting.

It just shows that the amazingness of the flow was a complete accident lol.

Lol. And it also shows his tendency to say shit about his previous albums so let's see what will Recovery get considering he thought his early delivery was whack.
