1st verse of Hello

Postby Innovation » Aug 7th, '11, 22:32

This is one of my favourite verses from Relapse. Top to bottom it's fantastic, I can't really say anything bad about it. There's no real hiccups in the rhyme scheme either.

The rhyming on this verse is outstanding, it really does showcase Eminem's lyrical prowess. I love how he rhymes 12 syllables three times and keeps the flow inch perfect. It seems so effortless for him. The internal rhyming in the second half of this verse is also very impressive.

What do you guys think?

You see that chick in the gym, checkin' me out
Any second I'm bout to stick her neck in my mouth
I lose a pill, and I'm wrecklessly reckin' the house
That was supposed to be breakfast, where the heck is it now
There's the necklessI lost, right next to Stephanie's blouse
Man I should check to see if my mom left any out
Nope, guess I'll re-route
Maybe somewhere in the depths of the couch
Oh, jackpot, yeah, open sesame mouth
Down the hatchet, the feelin' you can't match it
I rat-tat-tap on your door with the damn ratchet
Att-ack-tack-tacking a whore with the damn hatchet
A napsack pack with like 40-some Xanax's
Shorty come back, I'm tryna score me some lap dances
I'm bout to relapse, so baby pour me some Jack Daniel's
Formula 44D and 40's with bad capsules
The bad apple spoils the bunch, I'm back atcha

^Love this line. Just a really funny image, almost cartoonish, like he's talking about finding a sweet or something. Such a clever way of talking about his addiction.

It's flashes of greatness, like that, that make Relapse much more interesting than Recovery.

Shorty come back/score me some lap is a rhyme you missed btw.

Yep. Relapse is so great because it takes a million listens to finally catch on to all those rhymes he puts in there. You could just be bumping your head along and suddenly... :confusion: WHAT DID HE JUST DO??

Brilliant verse. Brilliant album.

When you're not anglophone and you hear it, it's very nice for the ears.
Especially the part in red.

Multis are only one part of the cake, there's heaps of metaphors, similes and punches in there that make me go, "OOHHHH I get it huhuhuhhu."

After Relapse dropped, and I would say to my friends, that if you relaly listen to this album despite of accents, this is some incredible rhyming. Nobody ever rhymed like that. They called me crazy.
