Pro wrestling is so bizarre and awful.

I mean it really is the strangest entertainment I've ever seen. Because everybody involved; the audience, the actors / wrestlers, the promoters / commentators all know it's fake. There's mutual knowledge yet... You ALL act like it's real and like it's important.

Which in itself isn't that strange as that's essentially what we do when watching movies. But movies for example are high-budget, they're put together in a way that makes these fictional worlds seem real / possible. So you can buy into them. Plus we only playfully buy into the fact that say... Travis Bickle is a psycho, for the duration of the movie. But wrestling fans talk about the actors like they're actual sports men outside / after the events lmao.

As if the belts and the matches really matter... With pro... Ring acting, they act as if it's a real sport yet could not be more unbelievable if it tried. It's almost like they're trying to act badly, and none of the fighting could even half-pass as real. It's just so odd.

It'd almost be like watching 8 Mile. Then coming out the movie theatre like "I hope Jimmy makes it atfer all that he went through". Or a few months after Kill Bill saying to a friend "You think The Bride is still alive man?".

It's alright to be ignorant. I know several professional wrestlers on the indy scene who feel the pain from what they do. One of my friends has an extremely messed up back from all the bumps he had taken. And honestly you don't know REAL pro wrestling, only the shit that Vince had put on the TV. I suggest you watch some old territory's, or better yet watch Beyond the Mat or even True Life: I'm a Pro Wrestler (The dude Rory Fox from the show I'v met). Though I agree with you that mainstream wrestling is mainly shit these days. But so is most mainstream music.

How the fuck am I ignorant just because I see it as trash entertainment. At WHAT fucking point did I say they didn't get hurt or suffer for it?

I simply said as entertainment it's bizarre, it's also very strange that they do get hurt and put work in as if it's a real sport but get none of the rewards and don't REALLY fucking compete. If they're putting the work in anyway why not do it for real instead of doing that ridiculous nonsense.

And I'm not talking about REAL wrestling, I think you'll find I do know that exists as the UK was one of its main countries of origin. Irrespective of that, I don't need to go check them as I find wrestling dull whether it's real or not. Plus we're not talking about if real wrestling exists or if that is entertaining.

This thread mentions WWE. And what I'm calling bizarre and weird is the psychology behind fake wrestling. Nothing I said becomes any more or less valid whether I know the history of all wrestling or not. As what I'm saying is bizarre is the psychology behind all pretending a sport is real when it's not, plus the fact they treat and train for it like it is. THAT is bizarre whether I know it inside out or not.

If you don't like it and don't get it, don't bother watching it.

I do get it I just don't like it. I watched it from about 5-10, the ages in which it's plausible to buy into its fantasy element. But I think to seriously follow it as an adult is just odd.

And, I don't watch it. I just entered this thread to see what the reference was.

There's a shitload of injuries in wrestling. Those guys work a massive schedule (200-250 days/year). Obviously it's planned out but taking bumps every single night would really wear your body down. That's why so many of them become addicted to painkillers. I can't even count how many of them died before age 40.
