Em & Benzino Beef - Question

Postby Asche » Jun 23rd, '12, 11:08

Can someone tell me the basic chronological order for when the diss tracks were released? I know the general story but I can't find a clear, orderly explanation that makes sense. I remember that Wikipedia made it look like Em and Obie released like 5 diss tracks in a row after Benzino's "Pull Your Skirt Up" which just seems excessive. Surely Benzino said/did more in between songs to earn that much vitriol. I know he said that really creepy Jonbenet Ramsey shit about Hailie, but wasn't that after the fact? Clearly I am confused.

Oddly enough Eminem had been banned from XXL prior to this issue for almost 2 years after dissing them(XXL) in his song "Marshall Mathers"

Ive just read this on rap-beef and wtf is this? Didnt XXL said that Eminen's mention of them in Marshall Mathers helped them?

Em dissed the shit out of them on MMLP lol. But at the height of his career no magazine would turn down all the promo that em gave XXL to help take down the source. The XXL issue with Em, Dre and 50 on the front was the first XXL issue to ever out-sell an issue of The Source magazine.

From there it was all downhill for The Source, with Benzino quitting and coming back... I don't remember much else about it.

It was unclear, but still makes sense. :P

An issue of XXL outsold an issue of The Source.
