Eminem gets invite to take part in Detroit Documentary

Postby Wreck » Jul 5th, '12, 17:16

I don't know if this has been posted before, & if so, feel free mods to move or delete this if necessary.

I was looking through some stuff, & found this.

Apparently, Em's old nemesis Champtown, yes, the guy that tried to get w/ Kim, the motivation for Fuckin Backstabber (skit & song), & the guy who invited Eminem for his 1992 music video Do Da Dippity, is putting together a documentary soon to be released, about Detroit hip hop, & the underground hip hop scene in the D.

Once again, Chuck D of Public Enemy contributes his voice to the ground breaking documentary..."The Untold Story of Detroit Hip-Hop." Produced and directed by Detroit's own Brian "Champtown" Harmon

(PRWEB) November 02, 2011
Once again, Chuck D of Public Enemy contributes his voice to the ground breaking documentary..."The Untold Story of Detroit Hip-Hop." Produced and directed by Detroit's own Brian "Champtown" Harmon, this highly anticipated project is very close to completion.

With executive producers Alfred Smith III and Quomeini R.Adams on board, this documentary is close to reaching the editing room.
Also, Champtown has reached out to the Michigan "Big 3," Kid Rock, Eminem, and I.C.P. for their individual contribution.
Here's what Champtown has to say about the film:
"I feel that it's integral to have them be a part of this historical documentary, I also thought it was important for the documentary to stand on its own without neglecting Detroit's true pioneers. Even though I have had some disputes and differences with I.C.P, I still knew that it was important to have them participate. As for Kid Rock, he is one of my best friends and I would be honored if he takes part in this. After all, I was featured on his Driven and Behind the Music pieces aired on VH1. ”
“Another fact is that a lot of people think that there is some animosity between Eminem and me, but they would be shocked to know that I was influential in his early life and career. As a matter of fact, the first real recording studio that Em ever recorded in was with me at Prince's Paisley Park in 1992 through my connections."

“Champtown also said, "Even though some artist may have fallen out over stupidity, those issues should be put to the side for the historical accuracy of this doc. For instance, the falling out between Eminem and me has been hyped up by people trying to keep us away from each other. I mean in Hip-Hop, if someone disses you, you diss them back. It's not about race or attacking someone because of their success, but more the nature of our art form. It's so crazy that people think when I stated in the last trailer that Detroit was over 85% black it was a racial issue. That was just a fact I was stating pertaining to what happened to the founding artists who never get mentioned. Em, Kid, and I.C.P know most, if not all of them, so why, has no one mentioned them? New Yorkers respect their founders, so why don't they... I mean, Em is one of the greatest wordsmiths to touch a mic - period. But there are Detroit artists just as good as him or maybe even better who get no recognition.”
“Whatever the case, I just hope we can all move forward and create a masterpiece. But, if any one of them decides not to get down with this documentary, it will be considered a smack in the face to the entire Detroit Hip-Hop community."
This documentary chronicles Detroit Hip-Hop circa 1982 to 2000,And will provide ground breaking never seen before Eminem footage. Part 2 of this documentary will cover the years 2000 to the present, and will focus more on the Detroit Hip-Hop Greats such as Big Herk, Rockbottom, Street Lords, Chedda Boyz, Royce the 5''9, Slum Village, Trick Trick, Stretch Money, K Deezy,Verdict and more.

No one will be left out of this profound history.

Think he will do it?

This is old, and it's been posted and discussed before, but I think I'll just move it to Chit Chat for now.

The trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiQ8DuqlHvk

If I remember right, last time we discussed this there was speculation that Em refused to participate because of the blatant racial focus.

I figured it had to be posted before, so I took a chance, oh well.

& really? Do you have any links/info that would lead to speculation about that? Just curious.

LOL watch the trailer, it's pretty obvious. "Detroit is one of the blackest cities in America, 85% black, but also known as the white rap capital of the world. How do the biggest acts such as Kid Rock, Eminem and ICP sit on top of all the very talented black artists in the city and its hip hop history?"..."It has been said that rapping in front of a crowd of blacks and trying not to get booed is not battling."

I would love a documentary on Detroit with Eminem's voice. Well, his next Album could be just that.
