Difficult or You're Never Over?

Postby ShadyxEminem » Jan 8th, '13, 02:05

Which is the best Proof dedication? Respect to both songs, I like You're Never Over lyrics. They sound more clearer, and sharper than Difficult. But Difficult definitely have more emotion to it

Difficult is more like Eminem trying to get over Proof's death while being in a real bad state. YNO is more of a dedication to Proof than Difficult, imo.

I like both songs.

Difficult gets me down every time I hear it, it's more personal. I like YNO as a dedication more.

both are good songs, both are genuine. i think difficult resonates with me more emotionally.

his 3rd verse on difficult, i think is in his top 10 best verses of all time
"I take yall diss as endearment - I love it when I hear it
Maybe words offensive - free speech I don't fear it
Maybe music can take us to a place so atmospheric
Beyond our greatest imagination, illuminatin' experience
If we open our ears and close our inhibitions, it's clear"

Depends really.

Difficult in the sense as a tribute. Its raw.

But YNO as a whole or something to just sit and listen to. It's more as a Celebratory song. It doesn't completely get you down or make you feel bad for listening to it.
"If Life's a bitch and revenge is sweet... I'm the sweetest bitch you'll ever meet."

YNO is monstrous. One of my favorite Em songs period. Difficult is unfinished.

Your Never Over.. Even though the song has this greasy turd of a line: "Excuse the corny metaphor but they'll never ketchup, to all this energy that I've mustard." I don't say the word cringe, but that line really does make me cringe. Why would you put it on the song KNOWING it's corny? Worst line of all time, easily. The first verse is also pretty forgettable/not good... but damn this part makes up for it:

So God just help me out while I fight through this grievin process
Tryin to process this loss is makin me nauseous
But this depression ain't takin me hostage
I've been patiently watchin this game pacin these hallways
You had faith in me always
Proof you knew I'd come out of this slump rise from these ashes
Come right back on they asses and go Mike Tyson on these bastards
And I'm a show em blow em out the water slaughter em homes
I'm a own so many belts the only place they can hit me is below em
Homie I know I'm never gonna be the same without you
I never woulda came in this game I'm going insane without you
Matter of fact it was just the other night had another dream about you
You told me to get up I got up I spread my wings and I flew
You gave me a reason to fight I was on my way to see you
You told me nah Doody you're not layin on that table I knew
I was gonna make it soon as you said think of Hailie I knew
There wasn't no way that I was gonna ever leave them babies and Proof
Not many are lucky enough to have a guardian angel like you
Lord I'm so thankful, please don't think that I don't feel grateful, I do
Just grant me the strength that I need for one more day to get through
So homie this is your song I dedicate this to you
I love you Doody

So sick it’ll blow up the mic, It’ll put the "dyna" in mite
Yeah it’ll make the dopest MC wanna jump off a bridge and shit himself
Tap dancing all over the beat, it’ll jump off the page and spit itself"

"Difficult" tbh.

"You're Never Over" is catchier due to his flow and the energy of it... but "Difficult" could have been a masterpiece, and it's so affecting due to the fact you can hear the real pain in his voice, it was clearly down amidst the emotion, so it's quite chilling... and that piano beat and lead-in to that hook line is brilliant. "Difficult" is quite special, "You're Never Over" is too due to that second verse but the beat and hook... argh. I mean, I actually like the song as a whole but the hook is almost so terrible it's good, but seriously speaking, it's very terrible lmao.
