Even the hardest SSLP fan wasn't devastated when MMLP came out and he saw the huge difference
Both are great for what they are
If you don't like Recovery, at least do it for what the album really is
Don't just go comparing with a classic and because things are different you automatically dislike it
You gotta understand that 10 years passed by between MMLP and Recovery, and Em went through (changes) a lot of stuff, so the final result should be different
The goat Recovery line to understand the album imo is in the most bashed song ever on this thread ''Talking 2 Myself''
"Encore" I was on drugs, "Relapse" I was flushing 'em out''
Encore is obvious what he meant, but the Relapse shit seems to not be understood by people
Em was coming back from a dark period, Relapse is the result of it
I could elaborate this further, but the psycho songs speaks for themself
Then, on Recovery, he wasn't coming back from a hiatus, he was there on the last year, he had done interviews, released an album, done performances, you know, showing himself again
All the shit that drugs took away from him, he got it back
He flush it all out and was ready to drop whatever he wanted
That's why I really don't believe that he just sited with Paul someday and got told to scrap R2 and make an completely mainstream album, at all. I firmly believe the ''I was in another mood and R2 seemed a little bit out of place'' thing and that T2M line sums it
Anyway, at the end of the day, we are fans and the least we should do is try to understand what Em was going for in that particular song or album
Relapse went to some years of extreme hate until people began to realize what Em wanted it to be and what it represents, then took Relapse for what it is and started appreciating that album for what it is
It's annoying that some people take that shit too far and start overrating it to the fullest and even saying that it's better than SSLP. It's not. The same way Recovery is not better than MMLP or TES, but you can still appreciate it for what it is if you take it that way

Recovery is a great album.
Agreed. Been like this for months now
If you don't like Recovery for this and that, I feel as though you should at least respect it for what it is, for how much it probably means/meant for Em both mentally and for his commercial success
I feel you guys. If you got the time, read what I just wrote and see if you relate to it
