Beats are shit on Recovery. Even the creatively written passionately songs like 25 to life sound like Em stole the beat off someone's personal youtube page. His voice is unpleasant and inconsistent. He is trying to use a style that sounds like a lot of other rappers with the unlistenable blatant puchlines. The entire album sounds like a half ass effort mixtape that was rushed out the studio by a indifferent Em and a impatient label company.

Relapse, was great. The opposite of Recovery in just about every way. I, personally liked the accent, sometimes it got a little heavy, but it mostly worked. It was creative, the beats were fire, Em was hungry and excited to rap about that kind of shit since he has touched on serial killer stuff his entire career.

And that's really as in depth as I'm going to get because I've talked about it a million times. Relapse was a carefully crafted masterpiece. And Recovery was made with Jimmy Iovine's hand up Eminem's ass.

Nope.

You can't say Recovery has bad beats and shit like that, then go on to say Relapse's accent, was personally, likeable to you.

Well I can say I personally like the Recovery beats. I guess my opinion means Recovery is a great album.

They're both great albums, but I still like Recovery more, personally.

The accent on Relapse literally does not bother me and I didn't even notice them until someone pointed it out. To me, Relapse is the better album by far but when I listen to it, I have to listen to the whole thing to get the experience. Recovery is more fun to play just a song here or there when you feel hyped up. The only thing that really bothers me about Recovery is the drums tbh. There are a couple of songs where it makes me wince whenever the drum hits because it crashes too hard, almost in the same way you automatically wince at fireworks. That shits not enjoyable, but I can get past it sometimes.

Cause Kendrick took the bar and raised it up higher for MCs
Unfortunately the little nigga's like 4 ft 3, the guys a fuckin' midget
His high is still really short to me" -Hopsin
(I love Kendrick, but this shit was too funny)

Relapse has déjà vu in its arsenal though....
That CD brings me up then down then right back up again.

Relapse feels more...natural. Like an album he had fun doing. Recovery sounds a bit forced. Like something he was expected to do. I like both albums though.

I decided to put "personally" in there because of the opinions of the accent seem about split here unlike the Recovery beats, which almost everyone agrees are shit, and the biggest stans will at least call them not up to par.

Also I put the personally in there to kind of soften the blow of the statement so the Recovery apologist Stans wouldn't come bleed their period blood all over my post.

The accents are great. They embody what Eminem. The ability to reinvent himself. That voice made some songs just work. It fit the beat and it made him able to bend words in a way he probably couldn't have without that voice. It sounded natural on probably 90% of the album. And that speaks volumes. To come from his worst work to date and not only make a classic album, but do it with a new formula? That's awesome. It's easy to stick to the same formula. Dmx, Nas, Jay Z and other big name rappers have beat the same dead horse for 20 years.

Em takes risks. And when he cares, he makes those risks, those creative changes work. And that's why Recovery didn't work. Because he didn't give a fuck and not in the good way. In the, "lets get this album done" way, not the "this is my life" way.
