You're probably right.
It still made the cut though.

They are unhappy with how their shitty lives have unfolded in the past ten years. So they want Em to sound exactly like he did a decade ago, back when they still had a chance at life.
It's not Em that sucks, it's you, unhappy little stans.
Relapse was in 2009 and I love that album, really wish he didn't scrap Relapse 2.
He's also shown moments of brilliance with his BET ciphers and a few of the songs on Recovery and Hell the Sequel....the problem is that ever since he scrapped R2, he continues to compromise. I was happy with Relapse and everything Em did in 2009.
I've been skeptical ever since Recovery, and with good reason if you ask me.

This. He's forgotten how to rap well and who he even was.
Everything is just strange. His behavior doesn't really have an explanation. Lost his marbles completely.
This has to involve aliens somehow.

His rapping is far superior than to Recovery rapping. However, it DOES sound like a Recovery-esque track; Liz on the hook, rap-rock-polished production and an 'overcoming the odds' theme... that IS Recovery. It sounds like a perfected version of the Recovery era as apposed to a new one.

I agree about Survival, although there are some Recovery songs that are slightly better. This song being on the album bugs me the most. Not just that it sounds Recovery-esque, but also that it's a 2 month old track that takes the place of another, brand new song that nobody has heard yet... Maybe some great song didn't make the album because of Survival, like for instance Dare To Dream, a Jimmy N Common track or a Yela track or something else... Female features worry me as well but if the songs turn out to be awesome I can get over it. Anyway, it's a good thing my expectations were never that high, so I am still hyped about the album.
