Smokingsection: It was impossible to save this album

Postby 1LynguisticMind » Oct 30th, '13, 21:23

the writers on SS are completely shitting on that album :(

The Rabbit we all once knew and loved is no more. That’s the conclusion I’ve drawn after listening to everything Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 has to offer, ending with “Love Game” featuring Kendrick Lamar. Don’t confuse my words with hate; they aren’t.

Em’s just lost connection to all the traits that once made him Em. The Slim Shadyness that made people wince when he described murking Kim and other graphic acts of violence. The battle rap spirit in his rhymes that generated “oh shit” responses and hitting rewind. At this point, everything’s been “ewww, shit.” Sometimes, a song makes it to listenable, but none warrants repeat plays. I play it, I listen and almost immediately after it ends the mind wonders where the aforementioned characteristics drifted off to.

The struggle begins as soon as the out of place production begins on “Love Game” and continues through Em’s verse and the putrid chorus. K.Dot does his best to resurrect the song – even calling up Sherane – to make it listenable, but that’s just it. He can’t. Just like Rihanna couldn’t on “The Monster” and probably like we’ll find out with any other big name features on MMLP2. The co-stars can’t do enough to carry the show when the leading character can’t shoulder his share of the load.

The Rabbit we once knew is dead and gone.

1.) Author doesn't recognize Em's growth as his author.

2.) He doesn't even get the end song right. He's not credible.

Have a nice day, OP.

They're right honestly.. they're not shitting on it as much as saying he is a shell of the artist he once was. It's not "oh I don't like the change" or "I wanna hear old em" .. it's something is missing from Em..

Yeah, what EM is missing, that people don't seem to forget or care about...is the past 15 years of youth. He's a grown ass man with a family. No matter what he does, with what style etc...theres people picking it apart. Oh on relapse, all he did was talk about murder and rape...em fell off. Oh on Recovery, all his lines are corny and he doesn't have that shady side of killing and raping...em fell off.
Oh, encore was just farts and shit jokes, and (now knowing he was drugged up as fuck, it makes sense...he found it funny) and he cant rap anymore...em fell off.

So on MMLP2, he does his best to deliver a grown up, more mature version of everything people bitched about him losing...and EM'S DONE...CAREER OVER. I think people just need to change their tampons and go back to listening to weezy and drake cuz apparently, No matter what em does....he ain't pleasing some of ya.

Are they kidding? Em is more like himself than he has been since TES.

That's a weak ass assumption to try and invalidate other people's opinions because you don't like them. I listen to a LOT of hip hop.. "Lil Wayne and Drake" really? That's all you got?

Don't be so mad Stan.. He just isn't gonna be able to musically be as good as he was before his drug rehab. It's not like he's shit now. I am currently bumping MMLP2 and could give two fucks about how you feel towards my opinion.

TES, MMLP, and SSLP are easily in my favorite music albums ever.. This just isn't. But don't sit and pretend that just because I feel that way I must not know hip hop.. Faggety Stan response TBH

**I appreciate his lyrics, and technically he is great in 2013 but there is just something missing in the magic of it.. Some of the songs are like "wow Em.. Some are just skip able.
