^ Better concept but it's really only the outro which is WOW.

And I didn't have more of a wow from that than the best of Relapse.

Just because it makes you wow means it's a better song ? there are a lot of songs that make me go wow on MMLP2, yet I don't think that the song is better than for an example SWA.

And Rap god definitely shocked me more than any song on Relapse

Shit ages like fine wine. Just gets better.

Recovery ages like dog turd - just gets staler.

MMLP2 is easily better than Recovery, but I don't think it tops Relapse.

It tops the shit outta Relapse

Does it have a uniform sound?

What identity does it have outside of a 'collection of Eminem' tracks?

Then again why do you necessarily consider a "uniform sound"/ an "identity" a plus in the first place? You keep saying this as if it should be obvious.

When the album leaked you were saying something about the tracklist fitting perfectly like complex jigsaw puzzle :confusion:

Nope. I was using 'wow factor' as an example, not implying that it means it's a better song by definition.

"Stay Wide Awake" is amazing not due to its wow factor which comes from its flow, although that is a major part; but Em's descriptive writing, the hook, the production, the atmosphere... all these elements which make up a song and give it personality.

His writing is just incredibly sharp, and throughout Relapse.

Yeah, it flows really well, but the album has no identity.

There's every kind of song on there, so it has no memorable feel, it's just everything.

But, I'm going back and forth in various ways. Obviously. Since it's so new... this happens with a new album/material with most of us, my opinions are bound to vary and evolve.

This is why I haven't written a review yet. I'm still digesting it.

Man, I just listened to Crack a Bottle...beat is fucking sick and Em actually sounds like he knows what he's doing.

The amazing thing is the rest of the album is FILLED with songs like this. Which is pretty impressive considering it's pretty hard to pick a topic and attack it from different angles on each track. Relapse just shows how much of a great writer Eminem is.

I like how people feel the need to quickly throw in some MMLP 2 praise just to ensure the stans don't completely attack them for not liking the new album.

did i come off as not liking the album in my post?
because i fucking love mmlp 2. and thoroughly enjoyed it. definitely one of his best WITH relapse.
but in mmlp 2, Em was trying to play "safe" and trying to have something for all kinds of his fan. like " let me put this for recovery fans, and this for shady fans, and this for sslp, mmlp.etc"
but relapse as an overall album, just edges out mmlp 2.

What exactly was "shocking" about "Rap God"? Yes, it's a good track. All it really is, however, is just an improved version of his Recovery era. We've seen him do that before. Rapping fast, choppy flow, the semi-whisper he used in his collabs since Recovery mixed with the Recovery shout, some decent lines, some corny lines, etc... We've heard all that before, "Rap God" just combines it all. Relapse is NOTHING like any of his other albums. That's the "shock" and "wow" factor for a lot of people. MMLP, SSLP, Encore, and The Eminem Show are nothing like each other. MMLP2 is more of the same, Recovery 2.0 or what Recovery should've been, if you will.

Despite what I just said, I do actually like MMLP2. But it's not without it's flaws and certainly has more flaws than Relapse.
