Didn't Know What to Expect

http://www.gigwise.com/news/82314/emine ... rn-to-form

When I read that article way back in June I thought ok this is good news but didn't know what to expect. I was still expecting an album that would be like a better version of Recovery but still very similar to Recovery in a lot of aspects. If only I had know what we were in for, I wouldn't have been able to contain my joy.

All I can say is I'm kind of glad there was so much suspense and mystery leading up to MMLP 2 and that we were led into believing it would be like a Recovery 2. Em sure proved us wrong and this album really was a return to form for him. He exceeded all of our expectations and I don't think anybody on this planet could have predicted Eminem would have followed up Recovery three years later with an album as phenomenal as MMLP 2. MMLP 2 was such a pleasant surprise that I don't think a lot of people thought Eminem was capable of but he did it. He beat the odds once again in his career. :worship:

When i heard it was named MMLP2, fear and excitement was the first things i was engulfed with tbh.. But as time went by and the tracks where dropped, i managed to reign in my expectations, whilst the majority of people were screaming "Recovery 2". I just couldn't bring myself to get to excited about it, in case it was a flop. But it turned out not to be in the end..Whew

Yeah I know what you mean. Like Berzerk really threw me off for a first single but I thought it was good because it was a step away from Recovery so that was nice. Then finding out the tracklist and the fact Survival was on the album greatly lowered my expectations and left me almost positive it was gonna be a Recovery 2. Then when Rap God dropped, my excitement and expectations rose pretty high but didn't know what to expect still but figured there would at least be some good stuff on the album.

Then The Monster came and my expectations deflated once again. I was then practically sure there would be a couple cool songs and the rest would be just meh with a few highlights. I was expecting an album with some lows and not too many highs and a lot of average tracks at that point.

Well then of course the album leaked and I listened to it a couple times the first day and was speechless. :o

Yes, it was definitely a roller coaster ride when he dropped those 4 tracks lal, but i always knew it wouldn't be Recovery 2, Coz he never makes albums that sound the same as previous ones.
The minute it leaked i vowed to stay off here for a week, just so i could digest the album without reading other peoples negativity on here. But after the third listen, i knew we where onto a winner lol, so i came back on and joined in the Stannery. Good fooking times yo :)

True dat :y:

Makes me wonder that if Eminem does have another album what it will sound like. Because looking back on his discography makes me realize that practically none of his solo albums have been predictable when basing it off of the previous one.

Well he touched on a couple of routes on the MMLP2 he could go down. Old school hiphop beats and retro type tracks, but like you said, that would be predictable. So the mind boggles as to what he comes out with next
time :-k
