I'd say his pseudo-serious act during Recovery was his most awkward, he was funny and light hearted in 2009.

you're both wrong.

I agree with you, as I was always a fan of how funny and light hearted he was during his comeback with Relapse, but honestly his Recovery phase didn't feel pseudo at all to me. Though it was probably the more awkward phase of the two.

@Brainless

...why do u say encore and relapse are "VERY" similar? I am hesitant to dismiss that as complete retardation; i am genuinely curious.

On a separate note, I think that (aside from standout tracks like Deja Vu, Almost Famous, etc.) that both Recovery and Relapse pale in comparison to his material from the tim westood freestyles from 2009 and 2010. They were so fucking dope and i feel like at the time, he was sitting on mad material full of content, flows, storytelling, and imagery just as he exhibited in those freestyles. To me, the majority of Relapse, while technically great, lacked coherent direction. I feel that he started to go onto tangents far to often; he would spit an entire verse that went in every which direction. On Recovery, I had more direction (in general) but, in terms of lyrics, as we all know, some of his punchlines and wordplay were extremely mediocre, corny, and again, mediocre (theres a game called circle and i don't know - wtf it that?).

In short: 2009 & 2010 Tim Westwood Freestyles >>> (Most of) Relapse & Recovery

I think Eminem is just an awkward person when it really comes down to it. Even from his early days..
