How does Eminem rap his verse? Seriously, does he even breathe? I tried rapping it and I just couldn't do it.

There's a method called Punch Ins. The rapper stops his recording at a certain point, breathes, drinks water, whatever, than starts again where he left it.

From what I've seen, his live performances aren't the best in terms of breath control. There is no way that Eminem could have done it in one take seeing how he performs live stuff (and yes, I do realize live performances waay more out of you than vocalizing in a booth). And common sense, if you listen there's literally no space for him to have a full take of breath, you can hear him breath in between some lines though. It's not like it's a bad thing to punch in though, without it we wouldn't be able to get such a smooth performed verse.

@Blu, the flow as Menzo said is great. I don't enjoy it in other terms, it's what you'd expect from '04 Eminem but imo Eminem's flow during his drug period, even through to the KM era was pretty fucking polished out. I love it.

I always assumed he lip-synced that.

What's KM for?

Anyway I've always enjoyed his verse in Git Up. Not in terms of lyrics but the flow is awesome.

On this, Em keeps his vocal tone fairly low and at a consistent level, almost 'dullened' so it doesn't take much breath. So it all just becomes about delivery and timing. The flow of this verse is badass.

Anyway, having just re-listened to it; even without using punches, I don't think it's that hard to rap; as, I've noticed the key to it like many of Em's structured flows is bursts of rhythm. It's not one continuous flow, you can hear the breaks, it's bursts of controlled rhythms.

So, if you just relax and learn the rhythm (s)/ timing of each little segment (segments of bars), rather than trying to just spit every word in a fast burst, that's the key.
