A new Eminem; Appreciate or Hate?

Postby Tomer666 » Apr 5th, '13, 16:23

I hear a lot of people (including myself) saying how they all miss the old Eminem style of rapping, so let's say all out of a sudden comes a new rapper into the game, whose rapping style is very much like Eminem's style during the SSLP+MMLP era.
Obviously he is not the same as Eminem, but he has the same rapping technique, the same use of anger we all love, and the same semi-angry semi-serious vibe, and he's actually pretty good at it.

Would you appreciate him and become a fan of him, or would you hate him for imitating Eminem?
On a simpler note, if there would be a new "The Way I Am" would you love it or hate it after imitating an old hit?

I think Eminem is one of a kind. His controversy, his style , his image was just amazing. He was the first to do what he did, so anyone else who try to do it would look like they're copying 99-01 Eminem IMO. Ex: Odd Future, Hopsin.

If that rapper ONLY had that to him? He'd be a clone. If he had Eminem's rhyming techniques, had the anger (Or Passion), was also comical BUT he also has his own flair to it while also having a Jay-Z influence among other emcees, he'd probably be dangerous. Eminem's style came from other emcees and made it into his own flair to it.

But in the end, that original style once you come up with it could eventually be the next big thing, potentially bigger than Eminem's style. It all comes down to studying other rappers, studying who THEY studied, finding techniques and skills you like in a rapper, assimilating them, and using your own flair to it. It's exciting, because instead of people writing you off as a clone, people might see you as an Eminem-influenced rapper, but different to the point of making you go "What's he gonna do next?" And I think that's the best part.

Hahaha life, man. Just graduated from the Adult Ed center (The place for people who didn't finish their Grade 12. Even though I did, but I didn't get my credits in time...), focusing on getting a job and working on my lyrics. Grind, nigga.

Wouldn't be a good thing to be Denace, dude can't upload a single without being called a Shady clone. Nobody wants to be that guy.

He doesn't help that stereotype either. He seems to try and bite Em's style completely.

Oh no, of course not, and he deserves the criticism for that. There's a difference between influence and straight up biting. If people can get mistake your song for an Eminem song, there's a problem.

If he really ever wanted to go anywhere with rapping, he'd work on changing his voice so he doesn't sound like Eminem so much, and he'd find his own flow.

He probably realizes that he gets more attention for sounding like Eminem, but the truth of it is he'll never go anywhere.

The sad truth. There's so many Eminem impersonators out there... it's like if you put Zolt Shady and Denace in a room, you could make a new Eminem music video right then and there.
