Old Em Bias

Postby Kill You » Sep 13th, '13, 02:09

Let's face it...it's just too present on this forum. No matter what he does, his new shit will always be stacked up against his old shit. Never have I seen an artist having their material compared to one another as I have with Eminem. Jay's fans really don't do it, Nas fans don't really do it...I really only see it from Eminem fans.

The man is still great. He is still one of the best out there doing it. He's still rhyming his ass off and rapping like he's got something to prove. I cannot say the same for other mainstream rappers, no mainstream rapper ever sounds as hungry on the mic as Eminem does. EVER. Period. Even his softest album, Recovery, had some harsh lyrics and rap styles.

What I do is I take the music as it comes. I love his old shit and I love his new shit. Eminem is just THAT artist for some people where his music just clicks. I never find myself really going back to his old albums (as I am doing now) and saying "wow really Eminem sucks now." I don't make a single comparison, I enjoy the music for what it is.

Drop the old Em bias and you ACTUALLY might like his new shit. He's still the same old Eminem, even on Recovery, Shady creeps his blond hair around the corner. If we're going by content (which is what so many of you love to do, ugh) then Recovery has albums like The Slim Shady LP beat, even though we know this isn't true...face it, it's just nostalgia. If you became a late Eminem fan as I did, in 2007, maybe you guys would take his music as it comes. I listened to his shit in 2007, loved it, then Relapse came 2 years later and loved that. Recovery came and I like it, not love it. Hopefully I'll love MMLP 2 at least as much as Relapse.

Give your thoughts and opinions. Bash the fuck outta me for speaking real talk, idc. :coffee:

I compare everyone I like to their older stuff. And their older stuff is better. Just the way it goes. No one says "Man, my favorite ____ cd is their 11th cd, it's perfect. Bands and artists usually peak by their third or fourth album at the latest and everything after that is just a decline.

People run out of things to say, they lose their passion, they get on drugs, they get bored, they start to hate the people in their band. Whatever the reason is for them falling off, it happens.

Em has held on pretty well. Hopefully this new album will be good, if not, oh well, he's made a lot of music.

Yeah really lol. Every album of his has been different. Had different flows and voices, only two that are remotely similar in that department are The Eminem Show and Encore.

the only change that matters is the quality of his music. i don't care if he changes his style in a genuine way, i welcome it. but there's an undeniably steep dip in quality here, there's no "bias" to it.

And I don't compare his current output to his first 3 albums. if he releases something good, it's good. Fuck his first 3 albums lol

Maybe it his production idk it just feels like he doesnt care as much everything is hardcore rapping but content wise and multi wise it just fell off into a weird corny punchline scream era

Fair enough, if you don't like it then you don't. But people who say they don't like it because it's not as good as his first 3 albums, well that's just ridiculous.

@Just Silver: I think a lot of it is to do with the actual music itself, as well, like the production.

This.

People only compare his new music to his first three albums because the drop in quality so high it's almost unfathomable.

Why do you like Jay-Z's new album but think Em's new material is trash...lol that makes no sense. MCHG is SOOOO much worse than his other albums, the quality drop is incredibly high, higher than fuckin' Eminem's, and yet you praise it. Makes no goddamn sense. It really doesn't. Dislike Eminem, fine, I don't fuckin' care. You haven't liked Eminem since I've been on this forum so not like I knew you to ever like him except by what you've told everyone. I just find it really fucking strange that you think Eminem sucks now because the music quality dropped when the same fuckin' thing happened to Jay-Z. Like Blueprint 3, fucking terrible terrible album. And MCHG is fucking stale as shit, good production and that's it. Hardly makes Jay a better rapper lol.

Please explain this to me Class. I'm dying to peer into your head for just a second.

Well Berzerk, yeah lol. Anyone who has never heard him before would never understand Berzerk. But if I heard like Relapse or Hell: The Sequel, even Recovery without hearing his old shit, I'd think the dude was pretty fucking sick. Especially H:TS, that is some raw shit aside from Lighters.
