So when you listen to music you always listen to albums from start to finish ? I can see this being applicable to a few albums but it's not like most artists are going in and narrating a song to song story. And if that isn't the artist's intent then I see no reason why listening to random songs would be a lesser experience. Also, songs typically aren't like movie scenes because songs tend to encapsulate a story/theme/emotion/message and can stand alone regardless of context .. whereas not knowing the context to a scene in a movie could be confusing as fuck.
Also, even if the artist makes his album a song to song story (rare) its not like people don't have favorite scenes in movies.
And I'm not saying this is how it should be.. but this is how it is.
So there's no good reason to dog on people that like to listen to individual songs.
