The 'right-up' is an awful rhyme with fighter and lighter. Instead it should be:

'In my mind I'm a fighter, my heart's a lighter, my soul is the fluid my flow sparks it brighter'.

Once you've replaced right-up with brighter, it's hard to imagine why this wasn't used.

He wrote that verse in 2002 at least mate; and when he performed it 'freestyle' still managed to mix his lyrics up :facepalm2 He still said 'right-up' then as well.

...what?

and I think changing it is pointless and wouldn't add anything to the song. listening to the 'right-up' rhyme it doesn't sound forced at all.

When he did the freestyle, instead of saying Arsenic-writer he said arthritis (twice). He performed the freestyle in 2002 (I think one of the freestyles for Rap City) so the verse was written long before No Apologies was made for the Re-up. Hence why Blu's picture has no relevance to my suggestion.

It would definitely make the verse flow a lot better. It really is unquestionable. Not only that, but brighter works better with the previous analogy of lighter's; it makes the opening of the verse better rounded and ultimately better flowing.

Oh, I didn't realise he mucked up the lyrics in that freestyle.

And his picture was implying em being like 'fuck, wasn't that obvious'. (well at least that's what I got from it) How is it not relevant?

And I disagree. I don't think it would improve the flow. I mean technically it does rhyme better but the he doesn't mess up the flow at all due to saying 'right-up'. His flow is fucking dope.

Your post actually made me realise why he did choose 'right-up' over 'brighter'. Contrary to your belief I think 'right-up' works better with the analogy.

With his soul, heart and flow it 'sparks a fire'. Instead of already having an existing flame and just making it 'brighter'.

The picture shows Em from 2005/6 around the time No Apologies was actually made. Unless this is a mighty coincidence, Blu is suggesting the lyrics owe to Em being heavily influenced by drugs, and thus a lot more lazy in writing.

Right-up does work, but considering it doesn't offer anything over brighter other than a worse rhyme I still stand by what I say. Brighter is definitely a lot better IMHO.

His flow is dope. The whole track is awesome.

I think you've just misinterpreted the picture. It's pretty common knowledge that verse wasn't written in his drugged up era.

And I think it does offer something over brighter. I disagree that brighter would significantly improve the song at all. The flow isn't fucked. But as I said before he wants the metaphor to be that all that shit sparks a fire.

We're going to have to agree to disagree because IMHO right-up is an awful rhyme when a word like brighter fits so much better.

If it were my way round and I suggested that right-up was better everyone would disagree and say: 'what the fuck?! How can you suggest two words which are only loose rhymes?!'

Incidentally, sparking it right up only suggests the flame is being lit (when the flow kicks in; ironic considering right-up breaks the flow slightly) whereas brighter suggests an extravagance, giving the impression his flow is outstanding.

You really can look into this too deeply though...

Yes I think we can :b:

I realise brighter rhymes better but I really don't think the flow is compromised at all.

Would've been good too, making a flawless verse further flawless lol.

T-Rex, calm down homie.

:y: Agreed completely. I even think his voice was great on this track (considering it was 05/6), although then again I actually really like how he sounds on Jimmy Crack Corn :8)
