He does have this Slim Shady character that can provide endless entertaining and humorous cartoonish violence. It's novelty might have worn off over time and it's nothing new from him, but it's the classic vintage shit his core fan base loves.

I wouldn't mind a straight rap record like that, especially if he were to provide most of the production and team up with Dr. Dre again.

Doing an album with a live band would also be interesting and different, he has the energy and charisma to pull something like that off.

That's what I thought he should do as well, but now he's speaking up about the fact that he doesn't want to just keep making rap records for the sake of it. So I don't know.

I feel like Eminem doesn't know where he's standing anymore..... it seemed like he was ready to cut the bullshit and return to form with the release of MMLP2 and his Calm Down feature, and just as he was perfecting his new style.... he does this. It's all so flustering as a fan, the man is fucking bi-polar. It almost feels like every time he does something his core fan base ultimately love (Relapse/MMLP2) he has to follow up with something that deviates from it (Recovery and now this).

It's like he's trying to please one half of his fan base with one release and then the other half with the other release, and the sad part is that he's losing himself in between it all.

He aint feeling angry anymore he doesnt have it in him... its understandable tbh!! Every shining star burns out after a while. I am just thankfull that got to witness this musical genius. I hope for more songs though, as i said anything he gives us now is a bonus to his legacy.

After listening a few times and letting it process. I'm not so sure this spells retirement. It seems like he's tired of making Shady-esque type tracks and talking about the same topics (although MMLP2 proved to me he can still do it well). He straight up said I rather make tracks like Not Afraid, which are uplifting and not rehashed topics, over We Made You, which was an attempt to be on the level of tracks like My Name Is, TRSS, ect.(He's not talking about quality of these songs here, he's talking about the topics they cover). This song actually has a Not Afraid feel to it.

I just think he's putting Slim Shady to bed and taking a new step in his career. He can still make inspiring tracks and touch on topics in the world, plus just make dope hip-hop tracks with an old school vibe without touching on Slim Shady and old topics from the past. There's definitely more to him than that. I don't see him doing any more than 1 or 2 solo albums, but I think this is him saying I'm done with the past, here is the new me from here on out for as long as I decide to make music.

Just my thoughts. This could easily be it though, and we can't complain cause what better way to go out than with his friends and passing the torch to guys like SH, Yela and Kendrick. I hope not though, cause I still think he's got more in him, and can still make great music.
