this.

Because there's rapping on it? No one said you have to go Slaughterhouse all over an album. It's called evolving as a musician...

No, it's called making shitty music. If Eminem started singing all the time with autotune people would say he sold out, but when Kanye does it it's 'evolving'. Lol, okay then.

When did Kanye Autotune his voice on MBDTF??? He distorted it a little like in Gorgeous, but he didn't use it to just make a smooth chorus, he did it to make a new sound and give the song the feel he was looking for. Was the Runaway chorus Autotuned? Nope, and that one of his only choruses. Hell of a Life is given a robotic feel to the chorus because it is taken from the Iron Man song by Black Sabbath. The parts Bon Iver had were both incredible, very edited, but very tastefully so. Autotune is fine when used creatively and artistically, just not when it is used to make a generic Kesha type pop track. Did Tupac sell out with the California chorus (which was a voicebox, not actually Autotune, but same concept)? Did Eminem sell out for layering the hell out of his vocals?

...wat? Not once did I say Kanye sold out, just saying that that's what Eminem fans scream everytime he does something differently. I wasn't just talking about this album anyway, just the fact that Kanye uses autotune like every other mainstream rapper and it sounds fucking awful. The dude's a rapper, before he starts singing he should maybe work on his lyrics.

You implied he did. Regardless, Kanye is on a level few touch creatively. Lyrics? Just because he doesn't put together 5 syllable rhyme schemes doesn't mean he isn't lyrical. Most all his songs are very meaningful and well thought out, and he has incredibly creative lines. You don't think Kanye takes heat for experimenting like Em? 808's was so overly critizized. It's honestly one of the only uses of Autotune I have enjoyed. Kanye felt he couldn't express his feelings through a traditional rap album, so he made 808's. He doesn't front like he's an amazing singer. IMO, 808's was a very good listening album. It's no classic but it was good, and he used the Autotune very well.

You don't think Kanye is creative or groundbreaking? He's a genius as a producer, one of the GOAT. He doesn't just make hot beats, he engineers the sound in an incredibly detailed way. He managed to get a song called "Jesus Walk" to become a monster hit in a time where putting religion on the radio is taboo. His samples are great. His voice/inflection is very unique. Every rap album he has put out has been album of the year and a arguable classic. He doesn't follow trends in how other rappers dress, he's set many. He opened the door for rappers who aren't from the hood or act like it. He crosses genres, working with artists from La Roux to Bon Iver to John Legend to John Mayer.

You can dislike his music and his persona, but to disrespect his musical ingenuity, influence, and creativity is ridiculous.

I think he's a fantastic producer. However, you were talking about his lyrics when you said he was a creative genius or whatever. I agree he is an amazing producer, but his lyrics are where he falls short imo, and that's a bad thing when the album is supposed to be a rap album.

:facepalm :facepalm :facepalm
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.
