SMH at this thread.

Lil Wayne's previous two releases....

Rebirth
- 176,000 first week

I Am Not A Human Being
- 110,000 first week
- 23,000 second week

^ They were digital sales only, and in the third week when the physical CD was out in stores, it sold 125,000.

As of December 12, 2010 it has sold 564,000 in the USA. (thats about 10 weeks)

Recovery sold 741,000 in ONE WEEK (the first).

But yeah, in 2010 when music is easier to get hold of than ever before, I'm sure all the Weezy fans that were too shy too pick up Wayne's own albums, rushed out to get Recovery because of one feature. Fuck out of here.

There is a reason why Eminem was the world's highest selling artist of the decade, is the first person ever to have the highest selling album in two different years (2002 & 2010), and has had the highest selling hip hop album of the year 5 times, more than anybody else by a long shot.

On the contrary, Em's probably given him a far wider audience.

You only have to look at this site before Recovery was released. Em fans crying & threatening to kill him or themselves if he ever would collaborate with Lil wayne. Now fast forward to present day, those same fans gave him a chance & now enjoy his music & say 'Carter 2' is an amazing piece of work.

Cash money wins.

Funny how you didn't want to mention that it is only 2 years ago he sold more than a fucking million first week. It's not like people have forgotten who he is.

No one said that anybody rushed out to buy the album because of Lil Wayne. It is not even the question of the thread anyway: "Did Lil Wayne feature HELP or DETERIORATE Recovery sales?" - in case you missed it.

I reckon there are more people who bought the album because of his feature (which was a major part of one of the singles) than people who didn't because they didn't like it. I hope that made any sense.

Eminem is also a bigger artist than Rihanna but would LTWYL have been that much of success without her?

Lil Wayne's verse helped Recovery sell even more. Whether it's 1 copy or 1000 is not the point of the thread.

No Eminem fan planning on buying Recovery didn't buy it just because Wayne was on one song.

Rihanna helped Recovery's sales WAY more than Wayne did. But having Wayne on any album is usually a good thing for sales

I wasn't praising him or anything if that's what you thought lol. Despite what I feel about his music, I won't deny that Wayne is a huge enough figure in hip hop (today) to know how to sell records. C4 will probably do great numbers, but Rebirth and I Am Not A Human Being are :facepalm

That would most definitely break the million mark.

But, I'm more interested on a Bad Meets Evil album :coffee:

I hoped there would be some hidden white text.. but no. Saying he doesn't sell a lot is nonsense:

- IANAHB went no. 1 on the US charts without any real promotion and is currently no. 17 on the american Itunes more than 3 months after its release.
- His latest single, 6'7", is currently no. 1 on Itunes (US).
- Rebirth, his worst album, debuted at no. 2 on the Billboard.
- Tha Carter 3 sold more than 1 million in the US first week.
