First off, the music is horrible. It is as equally generic as everything else on the radio, which is why this album fits so perfectly into a line-up consisting of today's most commercially successful artists (Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Rhianna, Drake etc.). This album is home to some of the weakest drums I have ever heard ("No Love", "Not Afraid") as well as some of the most bland guitar riffs ("Talkin' 2 Myself", "Space Bound"). In addition to this, the music does not even attain a rap sound. The only element remotely reflective of the art of hip-hop producing is the sampling. Even then, chopping up Haddaway's "What Is Love" is one of the poorest excuses for a sample I have heard yet, worse than Puff Daddy sampling The Police. There is nothing great, innovative, or enjoyable about the music on "Recovery" whatsoever. If the music on "Recovery" is not bad, then all music is good.
"Recovery" is everything Eminem strived not to be ten years ago, everything he so passionately criticized - generic, bubblegum pop, and worst of all (if you had asked him in 2000) corny.
MMLP sucks, SSLP sucks, TES sucks, Encore is decent, and Relapse is the worst album of all time. Everyone here became a fan after a TRUE classic such as Recovery. Eminem sucks besides Recovery. The music on any other album besides Reocvery is total and utter trash. Even, the worst song on Recovery, On Fire is better than every song on any other Eminem album.
Recovery ftw. LTWYL is Em's best song EVER.
True classic? MMLP has sold over 15 million and out sold recovery in day one sales. The Marshall Mathers LP has been ranked as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all-time by such magazines as Rolling Stone, Time, and XXL. Rolling Stone placed the album at number 7 on its list of the best albums of the 2000s. The album was ranked number 302 by Rolling Stone on their list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. In 2010, Rhapsody named it the #1 record on the "The 10 Best Albums By White Rappers" list.
On Recovery Eminem was black so Recovery couldn't be on that list.
