He is not balding, and he seems not to have white hairs neither, I think the hat is for him like a way to hide. He has often that hat covering part of his eyes. In all the last performances he wears a hat, I prefer when he doesn't wear it, you can see the emotion in his face too, like in Frauenfeld or the LA activision performance.
