Yeah i'm literally the opposite. I got a great feeling about this album, unlike some of the overly-pessimistic pricks on this site

I think this will be the first "regular" album after Recovery, since Relapse and Recovery were both about his addiction, and overcoming it.

We have no clue what the album is going to sound like, and that's my biggest fear. The fact is he CAN just say "fuck it" and make an Encore 2.0.

Bigray is absolutely right…Em's proved himself, but it's not a good thing. Him no longer having the hunger to be the best/gain respect from peers just means he has opportunities to completely mess around. That was his mindset during Encore.

I'm somewhat hoping this album is good though.

I am more hyped for this album than Recovery, maybe it's because we had a fair chunk of solo songs right from Relapse up until Recovery but this will probably be something new, always seems to change his style on every album. So in answer to your question, no.
But what am I gonna do when the rage is gone and the lights go out in that trailer park?

No, his mindset during Encore was, "Where'd I put my pills? Where are my fucking pills? Did YOU take my pills? Give me a one on one, I'll FUCK YOU UP FOR TAKING MY PI...oh, there they are. *pops 20 valiums*"

No.

I'm always excited for a new Eminem album.

EminemBase wrote:Recovery is not a good indicator of anything. That was an album he made 3 years ago.

When has he once carried a style across two albums? HE NEVER HAS. So what makes you think he's going to start now... ?

He focuses on a new sound every album, there's absolutely no reason to think he's going to continue with the Recovery sound. He said himself he gets bored or doesn't like it if he hears something and sounds like he's done it before, and that he wants to sound different every album.

Listen to how INSANELY different Recovery is from Relaspe. And how absurdly different they both are from the rest of his catalogue... almost as much as they are from each other.

It grates me when i read comments saying this new album will be like Recovery. MMLP was not like SSLP, TES was not like MMLP, Encore was not like TES, and so on.

He has given no indication he has any plans of giving up his terrible artistic choices that hurt Recovery and made his post-Recovery music the cure for insomnia. Does he have anything to rap about anymore? Any inspiration at all? I sincerely doubt it.

I'm expecting an album full of poppy beats, corny punchlines, and bizarre flows and incongruous yelling/whispering.

Good point. I'm not expecting much either (but if it does turn out to be a masterpeice, I'd applaud it).

I thought the same thing with the Slaugherhouse album. I ignored all the bad signs and thought Em and Royce would get their act together, and then WTOH came out...

So after WTOH, I don't have much faith.

I'm sorry but that's stupid. Em isn't even a member of slaughterhouse. I understand he mixed a good portion of the album, but it was in no way an "Eminem" album.

This upcoming album is HIS album, and barring Encore in some peoples' eyes, none of his albums have been bad, so why start now? Especially now that he's got all of his demons and recovering out of his system.

I feel like Eminem had an overall artistic direction on that album.

And I felt like Slaugherhouse was becoming a bit more like Eminem.

Regardless of whether it's his or not, this still happened on his watch.

I'm not comparing them directly, but analogously.

Even outside of that fiasco, I think Em has had a lot of trouble finding a new identity for himself.

He was too silly and bizarre in Relapse for a long-standing identity. In Recovery he was over-apologetic and he forced himself to be angry, serious (and practically never smile). BME was nice, but not his best stuff. And his features in 2012 were alright at best.

I hope he finds it in his next album. I think there's a chance it'll be a masterpeice, but right now, I have a healthy amount of skepticism.
