As in wasted, or gone off pills, etc.
Cuz he talks about that a lot in his verse.
Naaaaaaaaaaah, after re-checking it just now, am pretty positive he says 'trash', and makes more sense as 'still trash' / kilt, ass... I know he could and often does still just half-rhymed trashed and ass, but, if he said trashed - he then talks about being stronger...
He always calls himself trash, it's like an introductory comic line.
We may have to respectfully disagree homie.
If it is 'trash' as I reckon it is, that's fucking funny, I love that line.
It is definitely trashed. It makes more sense, especially considering he goes on to talk about how his pills have made him stronger. Calling himself trash would be of-route in this regards.
Rap Genius agrees.
Well I disagree, I still think it's 'trash'.
Also, trashed doesn't make sense - to say you're trashed in that context would mean you're still fucked up, he then goes on to say the pills should have killed him, but they rebuilt him, thus implying he's strong and sober, not that he's drugged out. Trashed means drugged out.
He often opens with lines that have little to do with the next, it's just a way of starting the verse, then he thinks of what can rhyme with it and goes from there, it's a free verse not a story.
'Newsflash, I'm still trash' is like "I'm still here, newsflash, the trash is back; newsflash, I'm still an asshole, I'm not humbled... even THOUGH I nearly died". Makes more sense to me than "I'm still fucked up off drugs, even though I'm not, I'm stronger..."
flash/trash/ass, those were the rhymes. Not flash/trashed/ass.
PS. regardless of what it is, that verse is fucking awesome. Lines are darts. Just listening to it again now... I think history will look favourably on his lyricism of 09/10... apart from the puns of course but, his Westwood performances are out of this world, you could argue his lines aren't as potent or comical as his prime perhaps but he's working on a sharp ass level all the same.
