I feel liking Eminem is a bit like saying your favourite movie is Shawshank Redemption or cliche classic.

Hipsters may laugh at you and dismiss your taste, and it may feel awkward because you have the same favourite artist as brick-heads.

But in reality, both Eminem and Shawshank are GOAT contenders.

I happily admit and justify it.

I say 'justify' as some ignorant of Eminem's true abilities and genius as a writer have him pegged as an early 00s sensation / childish fad... aka people who 'liked his first albums' but 'grew out of it' like an annoying friend I have, who is actually stupid and doesn't understand the lyricism.

A lot of people simply don't understand the depth of Eminem's initial artistry, but those who understand writing and true comedic and conceptual brilliance do. My old English teacher for example said that Em is an extraordinary writer and is annoyed by people who think it's just subversive.

True writers understand Eminem. Many hip-hop heads THINK they do (and dismiss), but don't.

So I'm more than happy to declare myself a fan then ether anybody who snickers or looks down on it.

It is a little awkward to admit in this day and age, but I think most people get it. Honestly though, when old Em pops up on Pandora, I'm like "oh yeah. This IS good." It's almost like I forget, but there is something timeless about his good stuff. Even the 'dated' stuff. He himself said he wanted his music to be like a time capsule, and it really is. Plus, the more you know about Em, the more impressive he becomes. Like, if you think HIS stuff is good, and then your mind is blown by how great the stuff he ghostwrote is.

I think it's the lack of knowledge that makes people dismiss him.

I would understand if we were talking about Justin Bieber. But Eminem? People respect him a lot. Somes of my friends like Eminem, somes not. But noone makes fun of him....or would laugh at me for listening to him... even those who do not like him, they admit he is talented.

I didn`t mean it was Eminem`s fault. It`s just, the thing is, stupidity is easier to see. Few stupid comments on a forum like this or on You Tube will make you think that only stupid people like Eminem.
