Despicable wrote:Its a good album for EMs new fanbase, but for those of us who has been around since SSLP,its a little disappointing.Atleast for me.

The terrible production is the biggest factor,i only like a couple of beats on it,the rest are soft radio pop beats.
The other problem i have is half of the albums choruses is sampled shit and its frustrating cause EM can do so much better himself. He doesnt need sampled hooks and definitely not so many as there are on Recovery.

Relapse is amazing and Dres production on it is just :worship:

you put it together right, That's how I think as well because it's the truth

honestly, I gave it a decent 5-6/10

Some good individual songs but as an album, it just doesn't work.

Yeah the beats were horrible. I think Em's direction was really messed up. But good beats would have at least helped.

If you build a house and the foundation of the house is messed up, it will ruin the house.

Same with Rap. Em had over 200 and something beats (wow there were some really shitty beats being sent to Em if the ones on Recovery were the cream of the crop) Em picked what he could work with and formed those songs.

He was doomed from the start. I understand it, he has basically been working with one person for 15 years and wanted to do something different. Either that or it was more pressure from the label because a lot of media was hard on Relapse beats saying they were dated. Which is one of the dumbest things I've ever read. No, the beats weren't current. Because current beats suck. I hate that kendrick lamar shit production. Where there is no real direction, just a bunch of shit noise.

I'll know if the album is good before I even hear it. If it's a 16 song album and it has two Dre tracks and one Em, then I might as well not even listen to it.

I disagree. I think that 25 to life lyrically is probably the best song on Recovery. But that beat takes away from it so much. I still really like the song, but that beat could have been done so much better.

The beats you listed are bad too. Thats a good chunk of the album right there. There are other beats I don't like either, but I don't care enough about it to go listen to the album to remember

Menzo wrote:I liked the beat on "25 To Life" :-k Those three above are probably the biggest gripes for me, individually I think most of the album's songs stands on its own two feet but collectively, as most of us agree, it doesn't.

I like the beat, I just don't think it sounds right. I know that doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Like, I think if dre would have re done that same beat, it would have been great.

He would have probably slowed it down a little and the drums would just sound better.

I think the drums sound like shit. Not the style of beat, but the actual drums. Like they made it on a walmart drum kit.

That rapid drumming of the snare, just sounds bad. Sounds like a little kids drum

Dre mixes everything perfect. Everything is clear, has a point.

I just think the song could have been a straight classic. And it turned out to just be a good song.

So crisp, crunchy drums, clear, smooth sound

And not surprisingly you could really use those words to describe Em's flow on dre tracks

Put Em on a generic shit beat, you get a generic shit flow

Put Em on a classic, you get a classic

It's not so much the quality of the beats though, it's the incoherent and messy sound they create when put together as an album, it's all so sloppy.

I just don't like how Em sounds on over produced shit and unfortunately over production has become the industry standard.

The ''Space Bound'' beat wasn't bad.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

It sounds great though.

I do wonder how it would have sounded on darker production, now that you mention it :-k

It's good. It just depends on what type of Eminem you want to listen to. I find all of his albums are a different style of him. Recovery was just another style.

Recovery is a product of Interscope which Em did just to please them. This album is good in some aspects, but at the same time mediocre at its best. I agree with Slim Cary about production. Beats are awful, which dont fit Eminem at all. Anyway, Em still did a good job with Recovery, but this is not what we wanted from him. I hope his 8th album is made by Eminem. When I say "made by Eminem", i mean that there is nobody stays behind his back and nobody tells him "you should do this, you should do that", which was the Relapse's formula. Relapse is Eminem's Album. Recovery is not.
