Well, musically it's because he got a mixed reception to Relapse and couldn't handle not feeling loved, despite saying he didn't give a fuck what anybody thought anymore.
However, personality-wise I'd say 2010 him was actually more likely to be him than 09 him, I think when he initially came back in 09... in interviews etc. that he was trying to live-up to his zany past and be 'that guy' again, and it didn't feel authentic.
His most real interview since coming back though is his 09 Jonathan Ross one, and that's probably because Em has a more British / Dry sense of sarcasm etc. so felt most comfortable there.
