I grew up in the older rap days too, I remember being 8-9 years old watching Eric B and Rakim do their thing, growing up in the golden era with G Rap, KRS, Kane, and many others. But Kendrick would be dope in ANY era.

Good Kid Maad City is a classic, and will be seen as a game changer for years to come. He completely shits all over the Kanye's and Drake's of the world, who seem to get such high praise for some unknown reason with their elementary ass rhymes.

There's dope emcee's like Em, Nas, Kendrick who showcase their lyrics and lyricism often, yes Kendrick does too, and there's emcee's like Kanye and Drake (who are somehow consider real good to great today) who hide behind their production, with in reality nothing about their lyrics are complex at all. Kanye is better than Drake IMO, but even at his best Kanye isn't near an elite lyricist level.

Kendrick is the future, the first GREAT emcee IMO since Eminem.

I like Cole, Logic, and Joey Bad more than Kanye and Drake too, just my opinion.
