One word from the end of one song. 'DAMN'. That shit sent shivers down my spine, not only Eminems realisation but my own realisation that I was listening to something special. I had listened to SSLP but never fully got into Em until I heard Stan. DAMN. I paused the cd and went mellow for a good 30 minutes, just sat in my room in pure and utter shock and amazement. Kill You then Stan to start MMLP.. i had to pull myself together to continue listening. DAMN.

When TES and 8 Mile came out
TrShady is just great. A place where pompousus blowhards can connect with other pompousus blowhards, and form a vast circle jerk of pomposity.

Brother blasted TES all the time when it came out but I was ~6 so I didn't get into Em then...then in 2010 I heard Not Afraid on the radio and was like "I remember this dude" and went and bought Recovery to check him out. It was after Christmas so I has about $100 worth of ITunes gift cards and bought Recovery, Relapse, and Encore and listened to basically every song, thought he was the greatest rapper ever. Imagine my reaction when I actually got to TES, MMLP, and SSLP. Woooooo boy. That was about 3 years ago and basically I'm full Stan now. So when I tell people Recovery got me into Eminem they're like

"But most importantly, hip hop isn’t dead no more you see
Cause Kendrick took the bar and raised it up higher for MCs
Unfortunately the little nigga's like 4 ft 3, the guys a fuckin' midget
His high is still really short to me" -Hopsin
(I love Kendrick, but this shit was too funny)

good thread.. my friend had sslp and he'd brought it round mine but unfortunately, coz i was heavily into dance music back in my early teens, i didn't really get it...when em released the real slim shady single, i was still against it and i would sing "would the real slim shady please fuck off" :facepalm :facepalm ..

but one day i randomly put one of my sisters cassettes tapes on, and on that tape where the tracks, kim and stan, and i was fucking blown away, by the intensity and the storytelling. i'd never heard anything like it in my life.
then i had to know everything about this dude, i went to my mates and got his sslp off him, then someone brought me the marshall mathers lp and we had that shit on repeat for ages..plus through em i went back through the history of hiphop starting with dr dre to nwa and branched out to everyone..

so ironically the track, stan made me a stan :D

I don't really consider myself one. I consider a Stan a really obsessed fan. And I've never really been that. You could argue that I am because I'm on this site every day looking for a leak. But I would be online anyways, just on different sites.

I was really into him a lot from like 2000-2003. But I never really did anything Stan like, I just enjoyed his music a lot.

I downloaded everything I could find off Napster, I wanted the MMLP so much I asked a parent to go to the cd store and get the cd as soon as the store opened so I was sure to have it.

But I've went long periods of time without listening to em and survived.
