Relapse vs recovery

I feel like I'm the only one on this site who can't stand Almost Famous. The horrible hook, intro, crashy production and screaming just makes it unlistenable for me... don't know how so many people think it's on of the best tracks on Recovery...

The same way people thought On Fire was better than like 85% of Recovery in that elimination game thread. It's ridiculous. Somehow little ideas catchy on on here and then from there on out it's just accepted fact.

But I actually really like Almost Famous, so can't help ya there bro.

The fuck's wrong with On Fire? That shit is fucking awesome. He's growling more than yelling, which actually sounds a lot more menacing. His rhyming is perfect, imagery is dark and kind of humorous (the line about the gizzards) and he even makes fun of himself. So yeah, awesome.

I'm not saying the song is back. Maybe weak in aspects of an overall song, but not a bad piece of lyricism. But go look at our newest Recovery elimination game. On Fire being that high, higher than some of the other songs and amongst songs like Going Through Changes?

I felt like the hook was haunting and quite good actually. There's nothing wrong with the intro. The production fits perfectly with the screaming, which is also actually fitting for this track because it's just Em going absolute batshit insane on a microphone.

I guess it just comes down to personal opinion. The hook and production just has a really crashy/tech-y/blary sound to it, which I despise. Conceptually I think it's great, but I think the execution/delivery was poor. I'm hoping DJ Khalil doesn't get any more tracks on MMLP2 (assuming Survival will be on it).

I give Relapse a 4/5. It would've been a 5 if.
- 3AM and My Mom were done in normal accent
- Remove and replace Old Time's Sake entirely
- Keep Underground but edit the lyrics and refine them
- Rewrite verses 1 and 3 of Must Be The Ganga
- Rewrite verses 2 and 3 of Insane
- Rewrite verse 1 of Crack A Bottle.
