Really? I always pictured you to be a Relapse > Recovery person.

I've never thought that. I don't LOVE Recovery, but I do like it more than Relapse.

I had made a thread that got destroyed because of the Bad Gateway when I submitted about how his voice sounds so awkward, robotic and fake. I remember a few days before "Rap God" came out I was thinking to myself that Em on most of Recovery sounded like a robot and it was just really weird and good timing how he says that line about sounding like one on "Rap God".

But aside from my favourites on the album, it's kind of difficult to get into. I haven't really tried giving it a chance, to be fair but yeah. Kinda the same for Relapse at the moment too.

Same. You notice A LOT of shit he did wrong in the Recovery era that it only took an actual GREAT album with Eminem being equally as great to see it. Eminem on MMLP2 is SO MUCH BETTER forgive the pun. Everything about MMPL2 stomps Recovery. He's even a whole lot better on H:TS but the quality in music has leapt forward drastically.

And sadly I can't listen to Relapse either. :( MMLP2 is just a different kind of album. Relapse is great, I love it, but MMLP2 is that shit.

I just think from a technical standpoint that Em did improve on H:TS but the songs themselves might not have actually been better. Personally I loved H:TS so much lol. I certainly listen to more H:TS songs than Recovery songs. He started to try to concentrate on rhyming more much better, but everything still did feel fake. Relapse even felt really fake, but more like amazing fake tits great lmao. MMLP2 is the first album since Encore that actually feels like Eminem and some songs could even fit in with his earlier work.

Recovery has some positive meanings and messages behind it, for example Not Afraid And songs like GSC, Talking 2myself are also personal & revealing. Beside, LTWYL is very clever in that it picks a sensitive topic to elaborate on and also finds the right one to feature(Rihanna & her Chris Brown history) So this album is very much needed in Em's career
& I think it gets overhated on music forums. It is good generally speaking.

It IS good, compared to other rap music put out that year. But compared to Relapse and MMLP2, Recovery is nothing lol. It was a very important album in his career, probably his most important tbh, but that doesn't make its flaws any better. Bad production and some corny lines keep this album from moving beyond "good" to "great."

That being said though I do agree. I feel like this album HAD to exist in order for Em's transformation back into the "old Em" we saw on MMLP2. Without Recovery I feel like he wouldn't have made MMLP2.

I stopped listening to Recovery a while back. But the only song from Encore that I bump consistently is Yellow Brick Road.

I feel like I'm the only one here who prefers Relapse to MMLP2 lol

I have been listening to MMLP2 since it came out. I took a break and have been listening to Relapse and Recovery again, I enjoy both. Recovery is actually good, it's very emotional and means something. I like it. Relapse is good lyrically but has meaningless songs, he kinda just made stuff up other then on Underground(sorta) and Deja Vu. I enjoy Recovery, and it's one of my favorite albums of his. It definitely isn't a bad album, it is better than Encore and Relapse.

Really? I thought Underground (and Bagpipes From Baghdad and a few others) were the most random/thrown together songs. The rest was all storytelling.

Whereas in Recovery, one thing I disliked were how random some of the lyrics are. For instance "Won't Back Down" or "On Fire" and "Untitled." While they aren't bad songs, to me they weren't interesting. There was nothing to grasp my attention. And sonically, Recovery wasn't captivating the way Relapse was to me.

IMO, most of the emotional stuff on Recovery (Talkin' 2 Myself, You're Never Over) sounded really corny to me.
