When I say reactions/opinions/reviews were "mixed", I mean that literally there was always a "mix" of opinions. People still had negative things to say about him back then. People did view his stuff as classic back then, I'm not trying to say that no one did, but that when people read reviews today, it's not like "iffy" reviews didn't exist back then, just because we can all acknowledge it's classic today. Maybe the general feeling or whatever was better back then, but people should understand there have always been people that hated him on the spectrum of his reception. He talks about it all the time.

Edit: I think we can be done talking about this haha. It's all the same we're just looking at the same things in different ways.

Yeah but people always have negative things to say about everything... rarely is anything ever 100% positive, so something having almost all good and some bad reviews... that doesn't make it mixed.

There's films which are considered groundbreaking and genius and were even on release yet to this day have about a 80/20 split.

There's rare examples like Dark Fantasy which get near perfect but even that has some negative and even Kanye's renowned first two have some negative, they're not perfect receptions.

But something having an overwhelmingly positive reaction... doesn't make it mixed. The reaction to his first three was very positive. Their standing got better but they were never mixed.

Relapse was the definition of mixed.
