Then I would wake up from that dream, as nothing he'll put out will top MMLP.

That's the reason why the album will never be accepted, people just don't think Em can top anything anymore and that's not true. You know why the first one is considered his greatest ? Because he took everything that they threw at him and countered it, and that was something people didn't expect. If he does the same now, just this time attacking something different, it'll be accepted by the people. It just depends on who he wants to please really lol.

I wasn't saying that to attack Eminem's skills; what I meant was, he was in a completely different mindstate in 1999/2000 which made MMLP what it was.

Hawk, how on god's green earth is Berzerk a radio friendly song?
I just heard it on a countdown on T.V and it sounded like nothing that came before it and nothing that came after.
A radio friendly song would be something like Lighters, fomulaic and meh. Hate Berzerk all you want but admit that it's aggressive and doesn't conform to anybody's idea of what a lead single should be in 2013.
Also, Berzerk is a better song in entirety than, "Remember Me" for example. So there.

you know what ? I think he's in the same exact state again. If you look at it.. he got so much hate the last few years. The accents the screaming when it comes to people attacking his flow .. people started to say he sold out and they are actually putting him in the same category like pop stars, like back in the day :shifty: ..

He is basically being attacked from everybody accept the media, and that's why I think he's in the same state like back in the day, the only difference is that what was the media back in the day, are now the hip hop fans and the way people look at him. I mean even on Trshady we bash him for a lot of things tbh

He should totally have a song going after people hating on the accents, food puns and screaming.

The reason he probably won't top the MMLP is probably because we know what to expect, unlike in 2000. And plus, his voice was 100× better back in the day, and he can't do that anymore without it sounding forced.

Kill You, this is an album. Every track should be awesome.
Albums have come a long way since the MMLP days. A cohesive album shows that an artist is aiming to produce a piece of work which flows together into a single entity. Whilst I can skip Berzerk if it detracts from the rest of the album, Eminem should really know by now that he is well past the age of needing a radio-single. A solid sounding album would work so much better.

Whilst, as you say, we need to wait and see, both Berzerk and Survival( to a limited extent) offer us a small lens to assess the way this album will be.

And right now neither track hold a candle to any off the MMLP for me.

We've heard only one song and one bonus song. It could. I'm not saying that it will, it probably won't, but there is always a chance. Eminem hasn't made that "perfect album" yet, why wouldn't he strive for it? It's this mentality that will truly ruin the album for people.

I see people now. "Wow, this isn't as good as MMLP" when you guys should just listen to the music and judge it on its own and not stacked up against MMLP. It will be hard, but I swear, you guys will NEVER enjoy the music if you can't move on from the past. You just can't.

On the topic of Berzerk, Berzerk is technically a better song to me. I've listened to it a whole lot.

I agree. Evem if it is as good or better than MMLP, they will not see it like that. They now have it in their minds that nothing will compete with it......without even hearing an actual serious song or anything, not even a fuckin tracklist to make that judgment call. Nobody will admit it, it will be constantly compared to MMLP and will constantly lose because people will pick apart each word of each line and say "that's not MMLP(2) worthy".

I like to give the benefit of the doubt. Being that there is no tacklist or serious single yet nobody can make an educated guess as to whether or not it will be next to MMLP in the ranks. The fucking album isnt even out and people are aleady saying "nope".

This is the guy who made MMLP, so he knows what it takes. I think, well...I hope alot of people will be surprized. He is not going to name it the sequel if it's not even better than TES, I just don't see it.

It's not a "past the age of needing a radio friendly single" thing, they need one so get on rotation and advertize the album. I do agree with your take on how the album should sound, and flow together but, if they didn't have a radio friendly single they wouldn't get out there near as much. Just like Survival and COD. It's sad to know that we havent even heard the serious song yet and people are already taking like it's just not good enough. I consider Berzerk and "2 birds 1 stone" song, not only is it the lead off single, but also a homage, it may not be a 10/10 song, but atleast it's not just average.

@ShadyxEminem:

Something sounding forced is just an opinion. what exactually does "forced" sound like? I hate that word because it's not something everbody can clearly see/hear. It's just a matter of opinion.

As you say - TRSS was rushed and made for the wrong reasons, yet it's classic; musically and lyrically, it's a classic hip-hop song... "Berzerk" has good and bad elements but, let's all be honest here... generally speaking it's forgettable noise... doesn't sound like the lead-off to a classic to me.

Sincerely hope I'm proven wrong.

Why did you like the Berzerk snippet so much and not the song?

Well man...

I guess the snippet gave a false impression of greatness.

It looks like the "4"s have it, which is a fair assessment at the moment.
