Your whole post shows your lack of knowledge on the subject. Let me break it down for you:
Lol @Slimm being mad.
It just annoys me that almost everyone here starts whining that AF does not deserve the grammy, while you don't even know the band. All I'm doing now is educating you guys. You guys are obviously the ones mad.
The fact that we aren't into indie-rock doesnt make us ignorant lol
Thats right, but the fact that you judge a band without knowing it makes you ignorant. Saying they don't deserve the grammy without actively following music outside of shady records makes you ignorant. Saying they are 'emo fags' with make up makes you ignorant.
The point is that these awards are suppose to be won by the artists who influenced that year most. And dont tell me Gaga/Bieber or even Eminem didn't rule 2010 over Arcadia, cause u know thats bs.
So because you've heard more Eminem/Bieber/Gaga on the radiostations you listen makes the music
better? The award is for BEST album, not the most played album. Now, you're saying it's about influence in music. Arcade Fire is one of the most influential bands of the last decade, but you wouldn't know that because you don't listen to it, nor do you follow any music outside hiphop. With the rise of AF came many many more orchestral indie rock bands who tried to follow in their footsteps. They are influential, original and refreshing and stay that way every album. Something Eminem (with all due respect) has failed to do. They had one of the most anticipated albums of the year, they are 3th most played on Last.fm and once again received great critical acclaim.
Probably grammys just wanted to be different then the rest of the awards shows and concentrated more on genres that aren't that known worldwide, kind of advertising them somehow....
Aren't known worldwide? Arcade Fire is known all over the world, get your facts straight. Maybe the grammy's just chose a refreshing band who deserved a grammy, and who made a better album than Recovery. It's sad to see you people making excuses and thus taking away a great moment for a group of talented musicians.
They are the most influential? That would explain why they sound exactly like every other indie rock band. You are probably right that they are the most influential, but the entire genre is dead, even this "influential" group sounds like its a half a step away from the 90s. Being influential in indie rock isnt an accomplishment anymore. Their originality is invisible to anyone that isnt a big fan of indie rock, every other genre has a big difference inbetween decades (Besides RnB).
Not saying they are bad, but dont try and make them sound better than they are. At least you arent like the rest of Arcade supporters who think indie rock is the only "real music". This reminds me of people obsessed with underground rappers, they think that anything away from the mainstream is good. By the way you make no points on how Arcade > everyone else, your just mad that some people dont like indie rock.
Bottom line is, the Grammys do this EVERY YEAR. Its always about country or rock for them, but thats not a surprise considering the years the members grew up in.
