If you say so I guess.

Well it is, doesn't mean the song doesn't have it's good parts, like the third verse. Like I said the flow was all over the place. But overall, it has nothing appealing as a song to offer. Hence why I labeled it a shit song.

I feel like if you don't like this song your not a big Eminem fan. the flow changes throughout, definitely. But not all over the place, it seamlessly changes along with the beat, showing off his wordplay and how he could tackle many different flows. The song is called Rap god, Em is showing off while touching on things that are relevant in the past year or two. It's not claiming to be a deep concept song, I'm sure we'll get a few of those, but I really can't comprehend how someone who does like Eminem can call this a shit song. If you prefer concept songs with more content, that's fine. But a shit song? This is the best Em has been lyrically since TES, and I love that.

But still, when you quantify art, how do you measure something like a bad line in precise terms? How many points would that be worth.

Saying something is good, isn't the same as saying it is 6/10. Only in the metric you set up just now.

Everything for me is spot on apart from the beat and the chorus could have been better.

But yeah, saying something is "great" is somewhat arbitrary as well. Not as concise though, so not as arbitrary.

I get the whole metaphor for improvement thing going on. But I don't know why you can't see that adding .5 on for a positive attribute is arbitrary as fuck.

Saying something is "exactly this much better"

It's too early to clearly rate this song IMO but my feelings right now would be an 8 or 9.

It's not saying it's 'exactly' this much better though...

When you call something "good" - you're not saying it's exactly good as that doesn't exist either. You're just using a descriptive term to approximate how you feel. 5 is just a reference. Also no different to a 'meh', a noise, a hand quiver like a 'so-so' action.

They're all serving the same purpose of just communicating your emotions.

It is the same though.

Because obviously you know no scientific measurement of greatness exists; our entire existence is subjective experience, perspectives, approximations, delusions and assumptions.

10 is just a metaphor for an emotion of extreme fulfillment in reaction to the art, just like 'wow', 'amazing', 'superb' or any number of words are, and then we can all pretty much guess/agree on degrees of 'greatness' going up or down that number chain. Clearly a 1 is just: shit, abysmal.

Because who has the exact same definitions of good or bad, great or shit either?

And who decides how much 'good' 'ness is added to the mix to make something 'great' or even 'very good' ; all of these terms are as arbitrary because you can't prove or pin down what good is, you have to endlessly describe your version of it, just like you would / you joked with a number rating.

There's no measurement for good either. But you're still being exact in declaring art X, and the X - whether it's a number or a word, is just an approximation of how you feel. And giving it a limit such as 10 is just to make it easier for us to all have the same basis.

Saying "this is good but not great" vs. "this is a 6 but not an 8" isn't different because 6 is higher than average (5/not bad) and great/8 is close to total fulfillment but not quite. All of our language is constant metaphors and none of it really means any more or less, it's just endless references.

If you look at those sentences: 'good but not great' vs. '6 but not 8' - and remove your perception of words vs. numbers, and see behind those letters/digits, see the concepts beneath and the purpose they're serving - they're serving the same purpose and are both metaphorical approximations.

It's funny because I used to be a huge stan. But ever since Relapse I've been gradually loosing my appeal of Eminem. It's probably because I listen to so much hip hop that Eminem doesn't come close anymore to any of the rappers I currently listen to. That third verse is probably the best thing Eminem has done since Relapse though. IF he could keep that flow at the beginning of the third verse going throughout the whole song than I would rate it differently. 'Switching his flow' and 'flow being all over the place' is synonymous to me. Props for not attacking me like some of the angry posters on here who get their panties up in a bunch whenever they see a fellow poster who does not agree with them. :y:

And I just bought a new Raygun from the future
To just come and shoot ya like when Fabolous made Ray J mad
Cause Fab said he looked like a fag at Mayweather’s pad
Singin' to a man while they played piano
Man, oh man, that was a 24/7 special on the cable channel
So Ray J went straight to the radio station the very next day

Little gay looking boy
So gay I can barely say it with a straight face looking boy
You witnessing a massacre
Like you watching a church gathering take place looking boy
Oy vey, that boy's gay, that's all they say looking boy
You get a thumbs up, pat on the back
And a way to go from your label everyday looking boy
Hey, looking boy, what you say looking boy?
I get a "hell yeah" from Dre looking boy
I'mma work for everything I have
Never ask nobody for shit, get outta my face looking boy
Basically boy you're never gonna be capable
To keeping up with the same pace looking boy

10/10 LYRICS :facepalm
It's the body bag game bitch I'm supplying coffins
