You do this but you need to take the overall album into account as well. Otherwise it could literally just be 12 great tracks.

I though that composition fallacy was more like, seeing one shit song, and saying it's a shit album. Or the opposite, say Deja Vu is a 10/10, therefore Relapse is potentially a 10/10

But we're kinda saying, like one shit song obviously brings down the album slightly. A movie would be better off without a shit scene or one shit actor. Ya dig?

No I'm pretty sure CrashBand is right when saying fallacy of composition is assuming the strength of a part is the strength of the whole.

Like, a movie with great actors who deliver solid performances doesn't necessarily mean the movie is great, because there's other aspects which are arguably more important than acting, such as writing.

But an album with ONLY great songs is usually going to be great, because the quality of the songs is the most important aspect. An album that is cohesive as a whole and only has great songs might be better than an album that sounds like a bunch of unrelated (but still great) songs thrown on an album, but the non-cohesive album will probably still be great.

What I'm trying to say is that the quality of the songs is more important than the album feeling cohesive. An album full of 10/10's that are unrelated > Relapse.
