@Menzo
I actually HATE You're Never Over, and don't see how anybody can find anything good in it.
But people do, so I just chalk it up to differing taste.
My point was that, to the casual listener/weed-carrier, Eminem choosing to scream like a bitch on Kim (brilliant song) would have seemed just as outlandish as him singing the hook on YNO.
They are both equally risky artistic choices, it's just the reception that differs.

I think it was more pure rage than "screaming like a bitch".

But I absolutely agree that he took a risk on both Kim and YNO.

I was listening to You're Never Over earlier and I think the 2nd verse is pretty dope imo. He brings some cool passion and his rhyming is very on point.

wait ... so Eminem wasn't bad at that style, but it wasn't his style, it sounded weird, and he relied too heavily on annoying puns? alrighty then. :whistle:

I've heard the entire Carter 3 album. It's awful. Contains lines such as "fly go hard like geese erection."

the fourth carter album is not better than recovery, lil wayne has the shitty recovery puns/punchlines times a fucking million on the carter 3/4.

That "it's part of his personality" excuse doesn't fly, like geese.

Lil Wayne isn't trying to write terrible lines. He's quite clearly trying to write clever lines and failing.

Lil Wayne was always more about the delivery of the lyrics and less about the lyrics themselves

In all likelihood, the chorus was intentional. Eminem decided he was going to take a positive approach to the Proof tribute, rather than a "woe is me, I miss you" approach, and part of that was singing the chorus terribly as sort of a joke between he and Proof. From what I've seen in the videos of the two of them, I think that's a better representation of their relationship. They used to goof off all the time, and it wouldn't have really made sense to celebrate Proof's life by making some dark, depressing song.

That actually is an interesting point, but I just dont agree with that, maybe its just me but i dont feel anyone should be able to get away with it. Even when Eminem was making corny puns/lines on recovery i felt there was a level of effort or cleverness behind them despite the corniness(not with every single one of them). With wayne i just dont get that, i feel like theyre corny and also not clever in any way shape or form, not all of them but a decent portion. I think Wayne is a good rapper when he wants to be, but i dont think its fair for him to get a pass or be called dope when he does the same things that we criticize Eminem or other rappers for. Waynes delivery i think does help him when hes delivering those lines though, but as written theyre still corny.

I know this isnt a wayne discussion but i wanted to get it off my chest haha.
