8 Mile & Gangsta Em: Albums that never were

Postby FreeSpeech » Nov 23rd, '10, 08:16

Anyone feel like there were 2 "eras" of Em that didn't result in albums?

8 Mile Em was basically pure effort and spitting: Rabbit Run, 8 Mile Road, Lose Yourself. It would have been a crazy album.

Gangsta Em had his hard stuff circa 2005, 2006 and Re-Up. Nothing too deep or amazing in lyrics, but the tracks banged: We're Back, Welcome to Detroit City, Smack That, Jimmy Crack Corn, You Don't Know, There They Go, We Ain't, and a bunch others.

I really would have liked a Gangsta Em album. Those tracks make great warmup music, basically prep you to fuck shit up. Stupid valium...

TES era and the 8 Mile era blend together. That was the "last hurrah" of his prime.

And a "Gangsta Eminem" album would have sucked and further damaged his legacy. Heck, The Re-Up is generally considered an Eminem album anyway...

his g songs are fuckin sick, you cant deny it
Oh no doubt, but he put them where they belonged. A whole album of it would have been bland and essence-less.

Well i like the Gangsta Em too,but don't think a full album of that would have been that good.Besides most of them were collabs on others albums...

I always looked at it as

1999-2001 Punk Eminem
2002 Trailer Trash Eminem
2003-2007 Gangster Eminem
2008 Em didn't exsist
2009-2010 Pussy Eminem
