So, I was always one of the people who bashed 'Recovery' and said I want Em to revert back to the old Em. I guess my fear wasn't that 'Recovery' was bad, it was just that I was afraid of him sticking to this new style that he adapted on 'Recovery'. But recently after listening to 'Recovery' again these past few weeks, I thought, "you know, he's always switched his style up after each album. He even made a switch from the SSLP to the MMLP."
So now that I came to my senses, I re-listened to 'Recovery', and I noticed that if I listen to it as an album of it's own, with no SSLP, MMLP, or TES in my mind after each line I hear in 'Recovery', it's a very good album.
The one thing that still sounds weird to me is that it doesn't have that one sound that just holds the album together. It feels as if it needs glue.
^I KNOW some of you have caught that, too.
All these are dope:
"Cold Wind Blows"
"On Fire"
"W.T.P."
"Going Through Changes"
"Seduction"
"Space Bound"
"Cinderella Man"
"25 to Life"
"Almost Famous"
"Love the Way You Lie" (YES, it is a very well written song, on Em's part)
