the biggest difference between Relapse & Recovery

Postby 14Shots » Jan 26th, '11, 20:10

on Relapse his rapping seemed effortless, easy even. like Same Song and Dance you can just vibe out to that shit and it was smooth as hell.

on Recovery his rapping sounds forced, like hes trying so hard to show he still has it that it makes it look like he doesnt.

agree or disagree?

The biggest difference is the content and lack of accent

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

The biggest difference between Relapse & Recovery is that Relapse is better.

This.

As much as I appreciate songs such as Stay Wide Awake for its rhyming, I can't listen to it as much as I could Going Through Changes as an example.

Beats, flow, lyrics > Recovery
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Recovery > Relapse.

Don't get me wrong, I actually don't hate the accent at all. I think it fit the whole concept of the album quite nicely. But Recovery's content makes Recovery superior, Relapse is amazing (lyrics, flow, storytelling, are all amazing) still, but Recovery >>>>>

What is it about Recovery's content that makes it so superior? I mean, it's not like there is any revolutionary stuff on it... The genius concept of LTWYL (the best song on the album) is the exception. Other than that, what? There is a lot of emotion.. but.. and? What about it? Relapse is the most interesting of the albums to me.. man, talk about creativity.

Because I like the serious Eminem more than the jokey one. It's my personal preference. I think anyone who likes The Eminem Show the best out of all his albums likes Recovery more than Relapse. The SSLP/MMLP people like Relapse more. It's something I've noticed on this forum. Of course, it doesn't have to be so black and white, and it's all down to personal preference

LTWYL the best song on Recovery? I know it's just an opinion but come on dude. I do like the song, but it's not the best.

I mean if you're looking for concepts, Almost Famous is a pretty good example.

What was "revolutionary" about Relapse?
