Chrysler's Sales Boost Thanks to Em...

Postby EminemBase » May 8th, '11, 18:26

Chrysler reported a record-breaking profit thanks to Em's powerful ad spot.

I thought the nature of it was interesting due to... well, I was one of the people saying Em sold-out by doing the ad, but more-so confused as to why he did as he's clearly not motivated by money. I'm glad that I now fully understand his motive and see why he did it.

It was a noble move inspired by loyalty and love of his city. Not dissimilar to the tone of his Love Letter to Detroit which aired on CBS in 2009.

He's literally helped part of Detroit get back on its financial feet...

So, I thought that was article-worthy beyond the news of the stats alone. So I've just finished writing a quite lengthy article on it, for my blog. I go into detail on his motives and some other things such as his integrity and image. Here's a snippet...

The effectiveness of the ad also shows Em’s power as a public figure and that’s because he’s been very careful throughout his career, hand-picking his dealings, never taking the cheap and easy way out and always standing on an artistic high-ground. When you do that, you command a certain respect in people’s mind and, it’s the fact he’s always been very very serious about what he does, always putting his all into it at any given moment and becoming known as an increasingly reclusive perfectionist…

Those interested can read the full article here. Thanks.

^ That was because Shady Records made a deal with them to distribute music in a new way. The 'new distribution method' remains to be seen but it was for the purposes of a partnership rather than a payday endorsement.

Em also wrote the ad, so... it was probably a proposition like "you do the ad and we do X, Y Z" as... Em is in the process of re-building Shady so is probably after sort of, partnership funding etc. as, it's still a business. But, I don't know how it works.

But, Paul said he just liked the fact he could write it too. And it's an ironic little anti-ad. But I agree that I'd rather him not have endorsed such a random thing regardless of the true motive.

Just read the article, it was a really interesting read and very informative. :y:
I wasn't that fussed myself when he was doing the superbowl ads, but it's nice to know he did them for a reason other than just money.

While I agree that the ad was like an anti-ad, it's still not very Eminemish to hawk a product like that, if the product isn't promoting one of his causes/ideas. But I guess if it's in the interests of his company's business...

I mean, he's not smiling cheesily at the camera or anything but he's still making a very easy buck. He used to do a 6-hour shift at Gilbert's Lodge for $30 and now he's writing a 30-second ad and getting millions for it.

I agree. When he did that he changed, to me.

It just seemed so bizarre that after ten years of not doing that he'd suddenly do it but... again, he could do so many other things for an easy buck and I think it's obvious money isn't the drive.

So I don 't truly believe he did it for a quick buck. I reckon that maybe... they asked him then, they eventually figured out a partnership for Shady and then, maybe he asked if he could write it too and just liked it for the fun of it.

But, it doesn't uh, satisfy me to say he did it for a quick buck. I know it may look like that and I definitely agree he shouldn't of done it anyway. As it's still tacky but, I don't think money was the MO. Maybe he didn't even get paid. Maybe he did that in exchange for much more, for Shady.
