Eminem = The Simpsons

I was thinking the other day about how both these have so many similarities:

-Both use humour as a veil for social commentary and emotion, both in an amazingly subtle way
-A lot of casual listeners/viewers won't understand a lot of what they did in their prime and it's importance in a wider context
-Both were criticised early on for their content (Eminem more so obviously)
-In their prime, they were both one of the best in their particular field
-They both had a ridiculously great, consistent runs (Simpsons seasons 1-9, Eminem 97-02)
-After their great runs both had a terrible patch (Simpsons seasons 10-13, Eminem 04-07)
-Pillinem = jerkass Homer (at least Eminem had a reason though)
-After the terrible patch they've been mediocre with moments of brilliance
-Both have fans that anaysis their work a lot (not a negative)

So basically Eminem = The Simpsons. Right?

Nah The Simpsons is still good to watch and still fairly enjoyable, but just not the same as back in the day.

The Simpsons I expected to change after so long. You can't keep having deep emotional episodes cause they run out of ideas for that. If the show stayed the same it would of grew plan. So they started going more and more bat shit crazy (which started in season 3 or 4 I think, craziness started creeping in slowing.)


When I drop my "Simpsons is the greatest thing ever glasses" I really think this is the perect comparison.

We all grew up, while the Simpsons & Eminem are just going down hill. I still believe the Simpsons will be called the greatest show ever. But if Eminem keeps putting out subpar material, his status of being goat falls more and more

I say all this while enjoying Hell, and loving last season lol

^The craziness started in season 10 for me. The first 2 seasons were more emotional compared to 3-9 but season 10 went fucking ridiculous and Homer become completely unlikeable.

That episode in season 11 when Homer visits the jockey leprechauns under the ground and in 12 when he gets raped by a Panda were the Simpsons-equivelant to Fack (are we still comparing?). Those were two of the lowest moments in Simpsons history.

Favourite quote of the top of my head. Homer to Bart after Krusty "dies":

"Everyone dies, son. You might end up dead tomorrow! Well, goodnight."

Check out the book "The Simpsons An Uncensored, Unauthorized History"

It covers a lot of how the Simpsons got created, what writers made the show emotional, who fucked the show up, tons of internal fighting. Also most of the book is entirely quotes from people who worked on The Simpsons. Besides near the end when the writer starts injecting his own opinion.

The Simpsons are just maturing and evolving. The writers have teenage sons and daughters now and they can't still be doing witty political and societal satire...it's EMBARRASSING.

Remember, they killed off the Flanders' wife character because she was immature.

Everyone keeps focusing too much on multi-dimensional content and internal plots. There's more to TV shows than that you lames. They switch up their writing style every season so no two seasons are alike. That's what makes The Simpsons The Simpsons, you cretin.

They killed off Ned's wife cause the voice actress was tired of flying to Los Angles to record the voice.& she had just been in a big pay dispute with Fox

From season 3-7 it was GOLD!! It started to slip during season 8. It was still a great season with some of the best episodes, but during that season the ridiculous episodes started to pop up ("Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious" & The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase).

Season 9 was nowhere NEAR as brilliant as the previous seasons.

Arrested Development is incredible.
