King Mathers vs. Relapse 2

Postby Mr. Porter » Mar 29th, '12, 18:37

Assuming both albums have completed versions, which one would you choose to have, if you had to choose just one?

I would go with the alleged King Mathers album. Even though Relapse 2 would probably be the better album, we already have a Relapse 1, and I would be more interested in hearing more of his King Mathers-era stuff. Thoughts?

And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

We've already had enough Relapse-type songs.

King Mathers would be new insight into the drug-addled, depressed mind of Eminem.

Relapse 2, though I'm incredibly interested to hear the material on King Mathers...I bet all the songs were dark mindfucks.

Relapse 2, easily.

King Mathers would be even worse than Encore.

Judging by the songs that were supposedly going to be on KM (Cafeful What You Wish For, My Darling), I think it would've been the better album.

Wee-Wee is from the Relapse sessions in 2008 after he got sober. That's why his voice isn't half-dead and he has coherent rhyme schemes.

I've also gotta get this cleared up, how could My Darling possibly be from the King Mathers sessions? His voice is much clearer than The Apple, Beautiful, and G.O.A.T for example. Then if he was actually the drugged up Eminem he wouldn't be pointing out all of the things that drugs fucked up for him. A drug addict doesn't admit his addiction so publicly in a song to release, admitting is the hardest part (or so they say lol). And Dre says in the song "Ever since you got off your drugs you got softer" so he had to have gotten sober for him to say that. The writing aspect of the song is also less sloppy than his music from 2005-2007.

I've seen a lot of people state its from 2007 so I feel like I'm missing a vital part of it all that points to it not being something after he got sober :s Fill me in someone?

No problem. :shifty:

On a serious note, the song was probably recorded in 2008, and written during his rehab/right after his rehab. Before the Relapse sessions, and after he definitely became sober.

Careful What You Wish For and My Darling were probably recorded with Beautiful while he was trying to get sober.

Relapse 2.

On another note, I believe My Darling is from the very early Relapse sessions. Like Solace said, he talks about the drugs in past tense, something most addicts don't do. It also follows the ending of Dr. West pretty closely, giving me more reason to believe it was always intended for the Relapse album.

King Mathers was during Em's "gangster" phase, so no.

Relapse is a dope album and having a sequel would be even more dope.

His gangster phase was way before that era like from 2003-2007.
