Eminem a hypocrite

Eminem censors the word nigger on MMLP.

As everyone on this forum knows on The Marshall Mathers LP Eminem comes out with a reaction to criticism and further provocation, mainly in the form of bashing women and gay people.

But Eminem bites his tongue in the song Criminal here

"I drink more liquor to fuck you up quicker
Than you'd wanna fuck me up for saying the word ____"

There is this whole idea that because Eminem is white, he is 'not allowed' to use the word nigger or make tongue-in-cheek jokes about black people. But on the SSLP he does those in fact things towards women and gay people.

By censoring nigger, is this not directly going against what the whole concept of MMLP.

Now I do realise Hip Hop is a black dominated culture and this would not have been recieved well in hip hop circles. Whereas Hip Hop is also quite a misogynistic and homophobic culture so Eminem jokingly taking shots at gays, lesbians and women would not get too many complaints from Hip Hop fans.

Therefore by consciously not using the word 'n*****' he isn't pissing any Hip Hop fans off.
Imagine if this the lyrics in My Name Is were "My English teacher wanted to have sex in junior high. The only problem was, my English teacher was BLACK"

I've read somewhere that the original track HAD him say nigga though.... i've always found alot of his Slim Shady material about killing his wife repulsive though.

Oh, the way he says "faggot" which was the word getting the most flack was different from the interpretation he had growing up so it wasnt as DARING as it might seem in retrospect. He was pushed into that kinda corner.

I think you guys are missing the main point, that being Eminem is supposedly 'not allowed' to say n*gg** because he is white.

And then he complies with this! In all of his music not just that one line.

But hell, even in that one line, he is directly referencing the fact he is 'not allowed' to say it.

My main point being, that Em pretty much bites his tongue when it comes to this. Imagine if he said it and then the next few lines going on to shred n****ers. "Hate blacks, the answers yes!" Imagine how that would have been received.

Maybe hypocrite was the wrong word as I think him not saying it boils doen to two things
-He is 'not allowed to say it' and he conforms to this. (the exact opposite on how he reacted to 'not being allowed to say the things he said in SSLP)
-But also I don't think Em thinks it it would be okay to say something like " The only problem was, my English teacher was black." Compared to the original about gay people (which I disagree with, I think it should be on the same level).

I think I've read, long ago, somewhere that he did in fact say the word, but Jimmy or someone (maybe Dre?) had it removed because they thought it'd just 'cause TOO much controversy as it was too overboard.


But I also think him not saying it, adds a lot to it. I like it. Kinda creative.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Bezino release that track and people were accusing him of being a racist, just as people had accused him of being homophobic and a misogynist in the past. But this time Eminem was quick to apologize for the song and called it 'foolish'.
