Eminem's mainstream success

Postby Tomer666 » Nov 20th, '12, 18:10

It seems like songs like Not Afraid, Love The Way You Lie, Space Bound etc.. are so hated by his fans but yet they are the ones to gain huge success. So I wonder if there are still lots of Eminem fans who actually like these songs?

Of course man. I like the 3 of them. Not Afraid was the BEST choice possible for a first single. In fact, he released Recovery with only one single. It had a huge buzz, and everyone loved it.

LTWYL is a great song bar one corny punchline. And Space Bound is a great story telling track. Actually, Space Bound is one of my favorites in recovery.

I am sorry for the dumb question but since I was just a kid at SSLP, MMLP, TEH era, but it seems like today the only singles which sells the most are mainstream. So I wonder, do you think that if Eminem would have became famous just by now, and all of these SSLP, MMLP, TEH would have been released at 2011~2012, do you think those albums would have made pretty much the same success as they did back in 1999~2002?

Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

I agree. SB is truly spectacular. Not Afraid is a little unconventional, production definitely could have been better. LTWYL is a great musical piece backed with some good lyrics and emotions.

Yeah, I like all three. Space Bound is a classic song imo. So much emotion and the lyrics hit home.

Space Bound has grown on me a lot, but I still find myself skipping LTWYL and Not Afraid, but I think it's just because I was so overexposed to them when the album first came out.

As for No Love, Em's verse has grown immensely on me and I think it's one of my favorite on the album now. And of course, as usual, Wayne ruined an otherwise beastly song. His stupid fucking lighting up his joint in the beginning, the dumb verse in general, and the fact that we have to hear his stupid gremlin grunts pop up during Em's verse.

I still stand by the fact that Em put him on there just so he could show anyone with a brain that he can demolish Wayne.

Yeah, Em's verse in No Love is one of the best, his flow is just incredible in this one.

Yeah, the beat on NA is a bit disappointing but at the same time, I kinda like it. Em did justice to a garbage beat.

The melody in it came out impressively well when he did it LIVE. The way it builds up when he's saying "Hey, yo. I just wanna take this time out, man, and talk to my fans....." :worship:
