I think it's hard to have a name that both sounds good and means something, without either being pretentious or just random, it's hard to get that perfect balance and not many do it; even 2Pac as '2Pac' for example is pretty corny. It's just a variation on his real name for example but, I've always found 'rap spellings' of things corny, even though it's arbitrary as language is open source anyway.
With 'EmINeM' though... yeah it's a phonetic version of his initials (which on their own would be pretty obvious / mean little), but it's perfect because his NAME is wordplay, which in essence sums up what he does and is as an artist. Yes he's a great storyteller, he can be deep and introspective, political, comedic, but almost all of it revolves around his brilliance with words.
I know a lot of rappers have, well they have a little wordplay in their names by taking a word that is an English word and then using it as a pun to imply something else, but they rarely make up a new name (they take a word), something which only means them; but emINem, the initials in to each other, and with both e's and both m's when capital... mimicking each other's aesthetic nature to be almost like a little puzzle E M in E M (turn them all 90 degrees and so on, and the e's and m's can be interchangeable), and it sounds good, it's just a great name. Like a brand.
