Was King Mathers ever a "thing"?

I mean, I know the songs claimed to be made for it, like "Ballin' Uncontrollably" and "G.O.A.T". However, Marshall claimed in 2007-2008 there was no album planned for that time. So basically, what were the songs made for? It's pretty clear he was drugged up when he made them, so it had to be from 2005-2008. Was Marshall lying when he said there was no album?

It's not a must that a song is made specifically for an album/mixtape. He is always recording different stuff.

He's probably always writing and recording to "stay sharp" and whatever. There's most likely a huge vault of Eminem songs we've never heard from all the eras.

^ I really think it was the drugs.. I find the drug era ALMOST unlistenable, and it makes me sad because it was pretty much right after TES/8 Mile. Imagine if he kept going like he was.. Syllables and countless other tracks would have been 1000x better if he had his head in the right place.

I thought it was just an accent, considering "Smack That" was recorded not much earlier and he sounded fine.
