I'm a little bit drunk again and yes I pretty much make this thread every time I'm intoxicated and listen to 'Relapse', but seriously... my gawd, dawg, the shit is fucking awesome.

If it stops at "Deja Vu" / fades out, and has no "Paul" skit... it's a perfect album to me.

It's just so fucking addictive and satisfying. Class ass fucking shit.

Um... it's alright man but the flow / style doesn't fit the rest of the album...

I seriously think the 'real' album was "3am" to "Deja Vu", as all those tracks flow perfectly and sound like they're of the same batch / style... THEN... they tacked "Beautiful" on for a single resort and "Crack a Bottle" on as it was a #1... then I think Em made "Underground" to compensate / go out on a high, rather than ending on some stupid single, which would explain why its style is different (As it was made near the end / after everything else.) Explains why everything after "Deja Vu" is for another album or out of place. If it ends at "Deja Vu", it's perfect to me.

There is a reason Beautiful is on there though, maybe not sound-wise it fits but it DOES fit with the concept. Which is just as important as production. If you look at Relapse as a story or concept album then Beautiful fits just perfect.

But I don't care about concept when the sound doesn't work.

It needs to first fit sonically.

"My Mom" - a story about Em's mother slipping him pills and essentially laying the groundwork for him becoming a drug-addict comes right after a song where he's a serial-killer... yet they sound totally fine next to each other due to two things: rap style, and production.

"Beautiful" is not of the 'Relapse' world, period.

Also, even conceptually, "Deja Vu" is all you need... it's almost like he 'goes through his relapse' of murder and pill-popping and insanity, then passes out, then wakes up and recounts it in "Deja Vu"... if it fades out there, it's fucking perfect. There's no need for any more tracks.

There may be no need but it still fits the storyline to me. He passes out in Deja Vu and realizes he has a problem then in Beautiful he tries to overcome his demons and Crack A Bottle is sorta celebratory and represents him conquering it. Relapse 2 would have been him relapsing again most likely but harder and I could foresee the character dying in the end.

OR, because it was the only 'old Em' material which could be used as a safety net for a single, and in-case fans didn't like the new stuff, to see how they react? I think that one, lol.

Recovery is exactly like "Beautiful". Seems obvious to me he put it there to be a single and to see whether fans preferred that or his new style... and fans overwhelmingly responded to "Beautiful"... so... we got Recovery = rock samples, singing, introspective content.

Relapse is so dope. The only way people would respect this more was if he dropped it sometime between 2000-2002. It would've went down as one of the most monstrous hip hop albums ever
